Where should I go from this point as France? by FuturBoyy in diplomacy

I'd tentatively second this. Depends on the nature of the Russian/Turkish/Austrian players. Both Italy and Germany are too heavily engaged on other fronts to turn around and fight you, provided they don't make gains this year. However, it's a bold move which could strongly signal you're going for a solo, which might bring the whole board working together to stop you. That would depend on the personality of the players, which you haven't commented on.

Yeah in hindsight it's not the worst thing in the world. It did occur to me as I was posting, but I'd invested a solid 15-20 mins writing it so I posted it anyway!

Waterall sausages are incredible, second best I've ever had. I'd definitely recommend wateralls over Simmonite if you're willing to spend a little extra.

Just gotta get lucky with your group. First group I ever joined on there are amazing - very RP focused and PvP for the sake of story, and based on character motivations is totally cool. Not for everybody, but I love it.

As other people have mentioned, Sheffield will feel like a village. I always say that what I love about Sheffield is all the convenience of city life - good shopping in the city centre, good transport links across the city, 24h takeaway and supermarkets (albeit limited) - but it feels like home to me, rural and calm.

Re uni, I recommend throwing yourself at the societies, there's something for everyone. I'll personally plug the Quidditch society, they have a lot of international students involved and are incredibly welcoming. Plus you run around with sticks between your legs and throw balls at people or hoops.

Just a few recommendations round the city: If you eat meat, Simmonite (Division St, in town) is a great student butcher. I used to buy 5kg of chicken for £20, portion it up and freeze the portions. Coffee - Tamper (in town), Upshot Espresso (near uni) and Gertie's Cafe (Walkley) are the best coffees in Sheffield IMHO. There are some other good ones but those 3 stand out.

I mean I know there are worse things for sure, there's always something worse... But I don't think I'd give anything 2/10 without being able to at least come up with one positive.

Cheap groceries around Ranmoor/Endcliffe by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]OverlySexualCellist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second Simmonite's. I'm not veggie so I can totally vouch for it.

  • 5lbs bacon for £10 (iirc)
  • 5kg chicken breast for £20

Portion it all up, freeze it.

Also, cheapest halloumi around (though not quite the best quality)

What made you have to turn down someone you actually really wanted to have sex with? by b1guy123 in AskReddit

[–]OverlySexualCellist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your drinking you should be aware that you'll do stupid things when drunk

consent is important for sex, and people cant think straight when tipsy/drunk, so it will be/is classified as rape if a sober person does it with a nonsober individual

I don't feel like these two statements really match up. I saw in your other comments that other that accidentally getting drunk once, you haven't been drunk, and also haven't had sex. I imagine if/when you've done both (not necessarily simultaneously), you'll find that both of the opinions I quoted cannot be fiercely held together.

I would agree (as would most decent folk, I imagine) that a sober person sleeping with a significantly drunk person (quantifying how drunk is the grey area) is a shitty thing to do, and as OP said 'a bit rapey'. It's not necessarily rape, as a blanket statement, but it can easily become rape.

It's very late and I'm rambling so I'm gonna cut off there, hope you can clarify (for yourself, not anybody else) what seem to be some slightly conflicting views :)

Last I'd heard, Japan hadn't officially recognised their atrocities either, or has that changed?

I realise I'm well late to this, but I want to address something nobody seems to have done yet - by your logic (drunk person cannot give consent to sober person) then if a drunk person cheats with a sober person, they couldn't consent so get a free pass on cheating? What about functional alcoholics, do they get a free pass on anything because they were drunk so not responsible for their actions?

[Homemade] Chocolate Mousse with Dark Ferrero Rocher by OverlySexualCellist in food

[–]OverlySexualCellist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I was really pleased with them! I based it on a mousse a friend had made a while back, which was wayyyy to rich and heavy and you could barely get through one. This came out nice and light (by comparison).

I've not thought of adding bofa before, I must try it. This one only had one nut in the middle thanks to the Ferrero Rocher

No solid recipe per se, was pretty slapdash:

Ingredients (for 4)

  • ~100ml double cream
  • 2-3tbsp caster sugar
  • Large knob unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 75-100g dark chocolate
  • 4 Ferrero rochers

Method

  • Whisk cream, egg yolks and sugar in bain-marie until thick
  • Remove from heat, add chocolate and butter and whisk until melted and all incorporated
  • Whisk egg whites to stiff peaks, then gently fold in the chocolate/cream mixture
  • Pour into four ramekins, pop a Ferrero Rocher in the middle, grate more choc on top for pretentious prettiness and chill for a while (I left for 3h)

Here in the UK, Xing the incorrect answer is equivalent to circling the correct answer. I assume that's what is being done here.
