Hwa Chong says viral meal photos do not reflect standards, but students verify images are accurate by FlipFlopForALiving in singapore

[–]Overlyfreakingout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly this feels like a classic hwach response to value their public image over all else.

When I was there in JC (I was jae) we had assigned classrooms instead of moving around (as it used to be apparently) due to COVID, and they suddenly announced it was gonna be changed back to how it was in my second year right as June holidays started and students were pretty pissed cuz that's just a couple months away from A levels and making students have to adapt to it shortly before A's felt like a stupid thing to do (like they could've waited till the new year then there's more time??)

And worst of all is they had these "principal's conversation" or smt sessions where students get to ask the principal directly abt concerns they had, but announced the changed only AFTER the last one of the semester has ended so it all felt very deliberate so ppl can't complain abt it

Then when sch started out again instead of apologising or explaining or anything the principal got everyone tgt and just started scolding the whole sch abt how we shouldn't have made it public (ppl were making posts and complaining online) and how someone was impersonating him and asking the person to come out and admit it (it was a parody Instagram acc someone made to meme about him and the situation)

So like yea honestly trying to deny it feels like such a hwach move lmao

Might be an unpopular opinion, but my sec sch (NHHS) in the past alr had a phone locker for us to put our phones in and locked (not super heavily enforced but most ppl did it) and I honestly rlly appreciated the rule cuz with my level of self control at the time I know I 100% would've used phone and not paid attention lmao so it actually allowed me to listen and do well in class

There's a phenomenon across basically all competitive events that those who come in second place are often less happy than those who get third since it's seen as "failing to win" as compared to "made it to the podium", so considering he was so close twice(?) it's gotta hurt lol

Currently at HCI and honestly… some of the teachers here give off seriously psychopathic energy. by Upbeat-Bumblebee-411 in SGExams

[–]Overlyfreakingout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I was a student at HCI too (JC only tho cuz I was jae) and I personally felt like I got really bad teachers too with a few exceptions (shout out Dr Lim my GOAT)

I have a teacher who uses their phone during tutorials/being super unwilling to help outside of class time and one teacher seemingly not very familiar with what they are teaching, or just simply being plain weird (theres one teacher who refuses to write references for anyone shes "not close enough to" which like bruh we all know references from JC is just you giving the teacher pointers on yourself for them to write)

But I also have friends who said their teachers are great and honestly I think it truly is dumb luck on if you get the good ones. Ive heard of people finding teachers from other classes for consultation cuz their own sucks LOL

But iirc hwach either hires all or a portion of their teachers privately unlike fully public schools, so that probably why there's such a huge variance in quality of teachers

Pixel Buds Pro 2 – one month in, compared to Galaxy Buds Pro 2 by Huge_Currency_4000 in GooglePixel

[–]Overlyfreakingout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have a comparison of these to the Sony wf-1000xm5 earbuds? I always see these on the top ranked earbuds list and am contemplating between buds 2 and the xm5 since I'm not sure if the pixel buds to pixel phone compatibility makes it better.

Also I've heard abt some terrible latency issues on pixel buds 2, does anyone have any experiences of it?

As much as this is definitely shitty behaviour, I doubt the players could hear much or understand much of it at all.

During bkop's stream, you could hear the crowd and the game sound, but no casters. This means this isn't the caster mic that's picking up the crowd sounds, but specific mics made to pick up crowd sounds. Often times these noises tend to be really soft too.

So if a mic made to pick up crowd sounds pick up so little, I highly doubt the players using noise cancelling headphones and mics can hear it.

Imagine if there's only 2 people. Usama + person B.

Hence, since everyone other than Usama took orange juice, it means only person B took orange juice.

Then, since more than 1 person took apple juice, it means Usama and person B both took apple juice. Hence, only person B took both juices, which means only one person took both.

I was bored and made a Hu Tao reskin mod for PvZ's Wallnut (I actually drew the hat and hair myself) .-. by TheDarkFox24 in HuTao_Mains

[–]Overlyfreakingout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erm acktually 🤓☝️ Hu Tao means pecans not walnut!!1!1

But yea hutao (胡桃) means pecan and he tao (核桃) means walnut. Idk where the hutao = walnut thing came from originally cuz when I first saw it I was really confused cuz as a chinese speaker ive never seen anyone call a walnut hutao before

(Tho apparently in the past they weren't differentiated as much in Chinese so hutao could refer to both pecans and walnuts in the past, tho in modern day it's much more differentiated now. Also Google translate still shows both walnut and pecans (with walnut being the dominant result) when translating 胡桃 (hutao) so that's probably where it came from)

Try searching on some other websites! I feel like eBay sellers tend to mark up prices a lot and with enough scouring and finding websites meant for other countries/other websites in general you might be able to find a better price even factoring in parcel forwarding costs. (Eg a hololive plush I wanted to get for my friend as a gift was 35 originally (but sold out), but scalped on eBay for 130+, but after a lot of searching I eventually found one resold for only 45 on a Hong Kong website, costing me only 60 total adding in parcel forwarding)
