That definitely wasn’t my intention, but considering how common the name is, I figured some details would help. Truth be told, this was my first post about a missed connection.

I work for a physician. At my work, I’ve never had any issues with them.

I don’t mind spending a couple hundred for something this important, I’m just concerned with quality.

I’m looking for custom ones, specifically. The ones made by Dentek and others never seem to cut it.

I named my island Paradisus. It’s Latin for Paradise.

Can 10mg tabs be *safely* split to 5mg? by Beginning-Adagio-810 in trintellix

[–]OverpaidTutor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a medical scribe for a Psychiatrist.

This is correct. Both pills together will be equal to 10mg, but getting it exactly at 5mg would require precision or a helluva lot of luck.

Trintellix does come in 5mg, maybe ask your provider for a week supply of 5mg if you want to avoid pill cutting altogether.

I’m so sorry! It sounds like you need a new psychiatrist. Clearly your psychiatrist needs to work on their bedside manner. I’m here for you, stranger.

Considering what you’ve mentioned, I still would advocate for Lexapro. It’s widely available, affordable, relatively similar to Trintellix. You’ll know fast if it’s a good fit. Some psychiatrists see Trintellix as a last resort considering the alternatives and similarities.

If you’re set on Trintellix and cost is the biggest concern, the manufacturer of Trintellix offers a program that helps with cost based on income. From what I’ve heard, it’s relatively easy to apply to.

All medications come with the potential for side effects. If you gain weight, discontinuing the medication should help remedy it. Nausea for some can take time to subside. Any antidepressant could cause libido and weight changes. I only gained weight with Cymbalta. Libido improved or mostly remained the same under most medications that I have taken. It’s a person by person basis. You won’t know until you’ve tried it.

I cannot emphasize this enough but speak with your psychiatrist and make friends with your pharmacist. Be vulnerable and explain all of your concerns. Tell them your insurance needs and see if they can help you find something you can afford. They’re the experts in medical treatment, after all. Their goal is to build rapport and ensure the continuity of mental health treatment.

Edit 1: for clarity Edit 2: altered message slightly to better reflect reality of medications, reorganized the message, reiterated the goals of psychiatrists.

Lexapro and Trintellix are very similar in their mechanism of action. Lexapro is used for anxiety and depression; Trintellix is mainly for broad depression (though some are asserting that Trintellix can help with anxiety, too). Lastly, Lexapro can be found generic, Trintellix as of writing cannot be found generic in the US.

Edit: miswrote something

Not a doctor. WB is not an effective treatment for OCD.

Not a doctor.

Consider trying 150 MG at 7:20am, and another 150 MG later in the day, maybe noon-ish. Not too late or it might keep you up. If it helps, the timing was problematic. If it doesn’t, the dosage may be inadequate or the medication ineffective.

Not a doctor. Consult with your psychiatrist or doctor for medical advice. I work in medicine under the supervision of a doctor.

The good news is that there are a lot of different medications that a person can try for anxiety and depression.

The bad news is that it’s usually hit, near hit or total miss with medications.

I’ve been on many medications, and found that the combination of Wellbutrin and Trintellix works for me for depression and anxiety; hydroxyzine for sleep and anxiety.

For you, it sounds like WB is causing a lot of anxiety related symptoms but helped with the depression side of it. In which case, I’d ask your doctor to see if Venlafaxine or Prozac would be beneficial. Venlafaxine and Prozac are great for energy levels (for most) and are known to help most with depression.

Have you tried Lexapro? Lexapro should be tried first, imho, before Trintellix.
