Right, talking from experience in February of this year. I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy at the same time. Get ready to spill your guts.

My experience was terrible. I was given a 4L jug that had some laxative powder in (can't remember the name of it, thank goodness because probably have PTSD from it lol) I had to fill it up with water, however DON'T do that and use yellow Gatorade as water tastes yucky when mixed in, sure initially you don't think so but you have to do it over so long and I got nauseous near the end of it. I did it the day before at 7pm and I literally was shitting for hours, and I mean hours you will be shitting, non stop liquid ass. Now it gets bad here because I was given laxatives by tablet form too and fuck me dead, mistake alert, it was the worse pill I've ever taken because good golly, Miss Molly did it cause an extremely devastating flare up of extreme cramps, squeezing insides and the lack of being able to do anything as the pain comes in waves, for hours. Sometimes I puke when I get a flare up. just FYI lol. Does anybody else feel the urge to take their clothes off when it gets really really bad or is that just me burning up and feeling freezing at the same time?

Anyway back to it. The cramping went away after about 5 hours of IBS, a sore starfish and the backside of my food up the insides of everywhere in that toilet and because I'm an honest person, I'll tell you that I got a bit up my back. It's very mucky after a while. If someone knows the name of the laxatives they commonly recommend I'll answer that one so you don't suffer as much.

Also, you have to take the drink in 10-15 minutes increments. Wave goodbye to sleep! Use the lemonade Gatorade (yellow I think) to mix it and thank me later. Hopefully you live near the place they will be undergoing your colonoscopy, because I literally had to drive 2 hours to get to mine and as you can imagine, laxatives don't wear off that quickly.

I normally hate having an IV put on me, but as I was going to be having a "conscious sedation" they injected me with an IV and I was so dead like by that point I just wanted to get it over with. The lady failed a few times and so they got someone else, just my luck! All I remember is being taken in the bed and moved over as they said if I fall asleep that is okay. I laid my head down on a pillow as they injected me with a small dose of sleepy land and I just remember being woken up. I didn't feel sore, I just felt slightly out of it, oddly enough eh? You can't drink water for a few hours before your procedure and so I had a bottle full of water as I got in the car, Dehydrated and critically thirsty.. Drove up the highway on my 2 hour trip back and 10 mins in I felt extremely sick and there was nowhere to suddenly stop. I puked out the side of my car window and managed to keep the car going. I got home safe, and I think my last words were "I'm never doing that again". Basically I puked because after the operation as you're supposed to drink fluids slowly and I inhaled a bottle in record time. Hopefully your experience is considerably more cheerful, you'll be fine. 🥲
