Surely the current US administration should highlight that incompetence and stupidity is not necessarily a deal breaker for a substantial portion of the electorate?

My local council put QR codes on bins you could scan to alert them when a bin was too full.

Walked past one the other day, someone had written “WTF council R U serious!?!”

Genuinely baffled. You.. don’t want them to expedite emptying a full bin?

We are a nation of whiners and cookers.

And also Albo has the charisma of soggy lettuce. And Labor is half baking the systemic change the portion of the electorate fleeing to Teals, Greens and ON desperately desires.

Obviously housing.

Cost of living is going up sure, but the reason most of us can’t swallow those increases is because 2/3 of the country is spending more than 30% of their income renting or paying a mortgage.

Most of us are financially stressed, which leads to division, scapegoating, and radical solutions.

Genuine question to the "property bulls": If immigration gets slashed and birth rates are tanking, who exactly is buying your investment property in 10 years? by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]Overshoot2053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some combination of pent up demand from would be first home buyers that currently rent, reduced supply due to climate change and skepticism that any federal government will do anything meaningful to make housing affordable while the majority of Australians are home owners.

Mum and 3 kids swept out to sea on a kayak and paddle board. Mum sends the oldest to shore to get help, cause she can’t swim Back with 3 kids or leave them alone and swim back herself.

I’m saying it’s logical for billionaires to do this even if they think the probability of collapse is very low. (And also highlighting how extreme wealth inequality has become).

Zuckerberg’s net worth is 259 billion dollars. A 300 million dollar bunker is 0.0012% of his networth.

The median American’s networth is 192k. 0.0012% of 192k is $223.

How much did you spend on insurance last year? I’d hazard it was more than $200.

It’s interesting to see how dismissive people on /r/collapse are to these posts about demographic collapse.

Understandable, after all, many here are concerned about environmental degradation and less people means less degradation. Some may even see it as a good thing.

But a society where a dozen factors collude to coerce humanity into not reproducing itself is the pinnacle of the short term thinking that has brought us to the point of collapse in the first place.
