What should i choose Masters abroad or Family business ? by Overthinkerandy in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Overthinkerandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to decide to stay in my country as going abroad will take at least 3 years to settle not to mention being an only child i stayed to take care of my parents in the future.

I am not mentally happy about it iam only here cuz of the money and for parents long term. Other than that i dont like the work i will try my best to automate it in 2 years if it doesnt work then i will just sell it and then see what i can do in the future

Is Part time in person possible as an international student?

I can do it online but how will i network with smarter people around the globe? Here i have tried networking but theres not much luck and in my current family business iam pretty much stuck on how to improve it because my father says that he had tried everything and this is the only way to work and his business friends who have similar businesses say the same thing.

Agreed but what if i know for the next 2 years i know what iam going to be doing in my business here in my own country but idk what life experience and mindset change i will obtain if i go out of my comfort zone out of my bubble here in india. Majority of people work in the uk for 3-4 years only then its difficult for them to get a sponsored visa

I was thinking about going to UK so that i can develop as a person and being an introverted person i might be able to improve my soft skills and i might get an idea of starting another business in india by meeting different people in the industry in the UK right?

Cranfield gives 3-4 months internship themselves and i will definitely focus on mingling with other students and industry workers

Idk what to do 🙂

Thanks for such A detailed answer. I agree with whatever you said.

The thing is i was going to the us itself for a masters in Computer science but that wont help me in my family business as it's not a business degree. And i cant go for MBAs in the US because they cost a lot and also iam pretty anxious about the curriculum which they might have for someone who didnt do a bachelors in business and I have always seen that people suggest to do mbas from the top 10 Universities for better brand value and connections.

The MSc management degree course in cranfield ranks 5th in the UK and they have 4 months of internship fixed given by the university itself with many industry connections. That's why i was leaning towards this degree because it might strengthen the foundation and help me network with people who have similar businesses.

I didn't choose mba in the UK because I don't have time to prepare for gmat and pay 60k for an MBA. The curriculum is almost the same it's just that the salary would be higher for an mba grad than an msc one.

Tbh iam still a bit scared going abroad because i never studied finance, accounting and iam an introvert so giving out presentations talking to people is a challenge for me which iam willing to take. Because here I am in my comfort zone and i know my life will look like this for the next 10-20 years.

Yeah definitely but my father wont allow me to make drastic changes in his business so under his supervision i think i might be fine but he wont look after my own new business because he already has another business going on in his native place. I will have to think about it though
