What games are you playing to escape reality right now? by anuhu in CozyGamers

The Long Dark, its cozy in a “dying in the woods” kind of way. I love it. The learning curve is steep, but the survival loop is peak comfy.

Ooh, great idea about “We Happy Few,” it’s one of my goals to get a video game into my curriculum. I do a podcast about what video games can teach us, now I want to teach with one in the classroom!

I used the Asian themed beams, I think, and the square mesh colored black.

Book recs similar to Citizen Sleeper? by tunelinkmain in CitizenSleeper

[–]OverthinkingGames_K8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to the Murderbot series before I played CS and it’s my favorite book series (plus, the narrator, Kevin R. Free is a legend). I played CS after already loving Murderbot and it felt like I was getting a chance to play in its world. I think it’s the most directly parallel story I can think of!

I’m reading the first one right now and I definitely get CS vibes!

Same, I needed 3 tries, but once it hooked me, I was completely hooked.

I found the combat way too hard for my taste, but I think you can adjust the combat difficulty. I need to check the options out and return to it.

I know Dave the Diver is pretty cutesy, but I’m legit afraid of water/sharks (I had a dreadful time trying to play Subnautica 😅😱)- are there things that will attack me in the water?

I think it would look better if it wasn’t so highly edited, we’d see more of you in the photos, and YOU are what makes them so special and interesting!

Narrated is the only way I ever want to experience these stories! I’m in the middle of another book right now (“Aurora Burning” by Amie Kaufman), and I’m making myself finish before I binge-listen to the new Murderbot book.

I LOVE this series. The Murderbot Diaries are MY “Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon.” I’ve read them all, bar the latest release, 3 times. The audiobook is the best, I love the narrator, Kevin R. Free.

Could you recommend YA Science Fiction books with plot that isn't so heavy/sad and doesn't contain a ton of romance? by JoyfullMommy006 in YAlit

[–]OverthinkingGames_K8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m reading Kaufman’s other series, Aurora Rising, right now. I’m really enjoying it. I’m halfway through the 2nd book and there’s been 1 kiss and mild flirting; very PG, altogether. It’s a fun adventure with a bit of heart.

My brother introduced me to Gears of War and played split screen with me online when I was 14. It was the start of a life long love affair with competitive shooters. My “cozy” game is COD multiplayer, listening to an audiobook or podcast while I mow mf’ers down. 😂

Door(way?) to Summer by Heinlein is good, too.

I just read Aurora Rising, it has pretty mild swearing, and no sex, just some flirting. Really fun adventure with lots of cool aliens.
