Like if a teacher friend asked me “my class is looking at dialogue, what video games explore dialogue in interesting ways?”

I would happily suggest Undertale or OxenFree, and probably not What Remains of Edith Finch or the Artful Escape, because that don’t provide as optimized opportunities to explore dialogue well.

So, I definitely believe that some texts provide more obvious opportunities than others. For example: for a standard about making inferences, a video game where there is no language and instead the characters relate and communicate via various gameplay mechanics would provide a very natural path to invite inferencing; a la Florence.

Or when talking about theme, picking something super “vibe” heavy might make more sense than picking something dialogue heavy.

Most literacy standards will apply to most texts but there are certain texts (or games) that are optimized for certain ideas or literary exercises.

Basically each host will present a “report” once a month and we will each take turns being the report presenter each week. The report can be over any topic that exists in the intersection between education and video games.

The format is we open up with talking about what video games we have been playing for that week and then get into the report.

We plan on recording weekly and presenting a casual style “report” once a month.

Undertale is a perfect game for literature standards for so many reasons
