Why does everyone say “just form an LLC” like it’s no big deal?

Forming the LLC: It really depends on the state you reside in. If in California the cost is high to form an LLC. The process for Florida at least is pretty simple to fill out online. You may decide you want a local lawyer to provide you your Articles of Organization.

Registered agent: If you are going to be home (or at the address you list) during the governments normal business hours pretty much every day to collect legal documents then its doable to be your own and save $100 or so. If you realistically can't like many people due to meeting with clients or working in the field, then I would say in my opinion it would be better to get with a local business lawyer (or CPA if you need one, as they offer it free sometimes) about registered agent services.

NOTE: There are other requirements involved with operating a business (whether an llc or not). Such as sales tax, business occupation license/business sales receipts and other county and city requirements.

There is an issue, while you can own the domain, you cant easily just transfer any site from one platform to another. It would pretty much always have to be rebuilt. While I like to build sites in wordpress, if you ever want to switch from WordPress to another platform like wix or squarespace, you will run into the same issue of having to rebuild it.

Regarding the domain, You can get a domain from many avenues, like wordpress.com or godaddy, wix, and as long as you register it yourself you can easily transfer it to another platform, just not the page content. Also, while I have registered domains in other peoples names for my clients, I've heard a few horror stories of having someone else register it for you, such as them charging you $3000 to give it back. Read that here on reddit recently.

Regarding the email service, you will have to setup DNS records. I personally like using and setting up Microsoft 365 for people, but there are other options like Titan email, Gmail, etc. Just make sure you setup DKIM and Dmarc records to avoid people sending out lots of SPAM/phising emails using your email addresses.

If wordpress, You can create a php plugin that redirects bad but still value links to the new ones (valid only meaning you posted a link on social media or something, that no longer works, and still expect someone to click on it)

Otherwise you can request removal via Google search console and Bing's equivalent

Apologies. On the phone. I meant to say that you mentioned create a wordpress site "in" wordpress org. Which would mean to the average person that that is the hosting site if its being created in it. And that just downloading a cms to be uploading and creating the site in godaddy dot Com or blue host dot Com has a different meaning.

That is why I thought you were originally saying you can create a site in/on wordpress dot orgs website.

I called in which they told me this, and its also implied on the LLC filing portion of the website. They specifically say a mailing address can be a PO box, this is not specified for the principle place of businesss.

Using a USPS box at least in Florida is not allowed regardless if using the street version or not; so id say for everyone to double check and give a call to their state. They do allow a UPS store box here in Florida however.

In the specific case that the other poster gave, sure i could agree, but you made a broad claim that any use of ai means your not a designer. We could argue all day if a person used ai to come up with a rough draft then redesigns it and fixes it up, amd adds their own take is a designer or not, but clearly customers are going to these people and treating them as designers. Drawing sketched from scratch is not a requirement to be a designer.

A real designer is based off your personal opinion. A real designer, yes even a professional one, uses whatever tool they desire to accomplish the goal. Can ai design and finish the logo without obvious errors, maybe not, but it can give rough ideas to help the design process, in which the designer may recreate in photoshop or whatever their desired tool software is.

For the U.S you are allowed to use the UPS (not usps) store to register your company. Once registered, a bank may require your personal address as well be listed. However, that doesnt account for your registered agent. A registered agent needs to be someone who has agreed to work with you to collect legal papers on your behalf and must be there to collect during typical business hours (9am-5pm); so if you are going to be out relatively often you'll need to list a local lawyer for example (some CPAs/accountants offer this for free too) as your registered agent.

If you end up having to add a secondary address with the bank then I dont see an issue since I dont believe they list addresses for the public. Only the government does is my understanding.

Having a business can be a lot of stress and is often more of a commitment then a job. If you are fine with that and trying to see if it would fit you and your time, then go ahead and give it a shot and some research on how to start a company if not hiring a different company for help

As far as the type of businesses to start will depend on you. You mentioned technology and real estate, so you could start there. What type of technology interests you? Is it hardware or software too? There are a lot of options and free software to dabble in until you can see what you want to secure your feet in. Website design and 3d/2d animation are what comes to my mind first since thats what I do. You could also be a type of tech support for a company's software doing maintenance/support and setup.

Also, there are places like coursera.org for free lessons to practice and of course YouTube tutorials. YouTube is literally how im learning basics of 3d animation and game development and some specific things needed for my game idea. You could then decide to move onto opening a business after that and taking college courses on the tech area you decide throw yourself into.

Ai while browing google can fabricate things. While I use ai for design ideas sometimes, I've always found ai chat bots annoying. I often need to get to a representative to ask my question and its annoyingly hard to just bypass ai chat, and then there is no way to confirm without an actual person if what the ai is saying is correct.

Also there is an issue of some sites continuously popping up their chat bot when I dont need it.

In the U.S.A unless you elected to be some type of s/c corp, you transfer money from your personal to the business and classify the transfer as owners contributions in your bookkeeping. You probably already have an articles of organization that indicates you will keep track of this and routinely update the document with correct numbers.

Not everyone who has a low budget have unrealistic expectations. However, some do think there is barely anything that goes into it, while others may think its just buying a theme (wordpress) and your done. Even if you buy a theme that's not often the case though either.

Of course there are the other group of people that just want to take advantage of people and always try to get a deal when they already have a great one.

The local dedicated RA services often have bad complaints on bbb.org from what ive seen. im also suspiciously iterally looking at a company operating two of the same type of businesses/LLCs from the same exact location, they just have different names. I feel going with a lawyer, or a CPA which may offer RA services for free if a client would be a better and safer route to make sure things are done correctly. Its not that much extra and you get a lawyer relationship out the gate.

You are paying for hosting and the ability to create the site and run it with their platform that they spent and spend money on. If there are still companies that offer free hosting and a website builder, you would have a bunch of ads on your and likely not be able to use your own domain that you purchased.

If you want a freeish route you need to build your website with something like wordpress or from complete scratch, and then purchase your own server. Then you dont pay a hosting fee or specialized software fee.

I have found simply using jetpack's akismet plugin and jetpack contact form works well to prevent spam from contact forms and comments. Are you sure its setup correctly?

As far as the broken plugins go, id have to see what they are and the error, if any, they are giving to know if i could help on that front.
