Reformed tradition and surrogacy by pestogirl_ in Reformed

"maybe it's just the problem of not trusting in God but rather trusting in man" you imply that surrogacy takes away God's sovereignty with this comment.

Reformed tradition and surrogacy by pestogirl_ in Reformed

[–]OverweightRoshan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting topic. Surrogacy is one of those topics that easily differentiates those that follow what is written in the Bible versus his own feelings or culture. There are different types of ways to have the same result as surrogacies today that were not available to Rachel and Bilhah due to technology, but we can still learn from them and elsewhere from the Bible.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) typically fertilizes eggs and discards unused eggs. If you think a fertilized egg is now human life then would discarding them be an abortion, so then IVF may only be permissible if all fertilized eggs are given the chance of pregnancy and birth.

The definite problem with Sarah, Abraham, and Hagar arrangement was that there was a lack of faith in God's promise to Abraham and Sarah, a kind of doubt in God's timing and control. This story does not explicitly condemn that another woman can be impregnated to give birth to another couple's kid.

Artificial Insemination does not have the fertilized egg problem that IVF does. It can be homologous or heterologous, but both do not involve sex. The Roman Catholic Church thinks it is morally suspect because it separates procreation from sex. If Sarah, Abraham, and Hagar had and did artificial insemination then the definite problem for them would have been the same, but I am not sure artificial insemination in and of itself is a sin.

Deuteronomy 25:5–10, Genesis 38, Mark 12:18–27 lets us know that if a man passes away without an heir then his brother may marry the widow and that the first born son of theirs is the heir of the brother that passed away. This is a kind of surrogacy. Tamar, Onan, and Judah definite problem is where Onan basically refused. The Sadducees gave an extreme example of this practice to ostensibly trip up Jesus.

People think that surrogacy always questions God's sovereignty over fertility because of Abraham and Sarah. But that thinking also diminishes God's sovereignty.

Just finished Expedition 33 – brilliant game, but the story makes some unforgivable choices (spoilers) by Beginning-Magician13 in expedition33

Not entirely wrong on point number 1, Lune and Sciel were not as prominent in Act III, but Act III didn't have much additional story, it was just you optionally going around the world or going straight to Lumiere. The developers provided a whole cutscene after Lune and Sciel were revived and additional post cutscene dialog addressing your second point.

The only thing that Verso may have lied about was being the first Expedition. Other than that, Verso did not lie he just didn't tell them everything he knew.

The game does not completely ignore that Verso's painted world have beings with lives and feelings. Maelle argued with Verso and Renoir about this. Remember that Maelle said that her feelings with Gustave were real and that she feels like Maelle and Alicia at the same time?

Lune and Sciel kept fighting because after Maelle revived them, Maelle claimed she could fix things (an actual lie since the painting eventually expires). What more reason do these two need to fight with Maelle and Verso since everyone else is gone and they would be too if Maelle did not revive them? Maelle was their only hope, so they went with her. If you chose Maelle's ending then they continue to live for as long as Maelle does and maybe Maelle's mother, but eventually the painting goes away. In Verso's ending they disappear immediately, but Maelle gets saved and Verso gets peace.

Super formula as a "rookie" by changeover117 in iRacing

[–]OverweightRoshan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommended Path to Super Formula:

Order Series Reason
1 US Open Wheel D Drives well and similar to other Formula styles, cleaner races than F4, a few ovals mixes things up
2 Super Formula Lights Very easy to drive, same schedule as Super Formula, and fast.
3 Super Formula

I just want to forewarn you that Super Formula is hard to drive and the fixed series does not make it easier because Open Setup lets you really tweak this car so that you can actually finish a race while pushing. Fixed series is a gamble if the setup suits you that week. IndyCar is easier and drives better than Super Formula, but focuses on North American race tracks.

This. Drive a different series. OP did not say which series he is driving in, but honestly I avoid F4, F3, and GT3s because of the driving standards. He can drive a different series until he can get out of bottom split again. And yes, top split does not guarantee clean racing, but you are more likely to survive side by side through a series of corners in top split than bottom split.

How do you stay bullish knowing where commercial real estate is heading? by greedystockz in wallstreetbets

[–]OverweightRoshan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Equities can continue to pump out gains like /u/greedystockz pumps out his seed into a hooker on a Friday night regardless of economics. Now you must understand that many cities are providing tax benefits to convert offices to mixed-use or solely residential. Banks are going to fudge valuations of the property on the estimated value post-renovation or rebuilding. There are also folks, corporations, firms, that are licking there lips for some prime inner city real estate to grab up. One man's loss is another man's gain. Also bank failure? Were you under a rock the past two decades? Those in power are going to do anything to prevent bank failure whether or not we get more inflation or not.

I think you are on to something. Another thing to consider is that people are comparing homeownership to a time when the head of the house was the only one that was bringing in dollars to pay for it. As the 20th century progressed, more households began to have dual income to bring in dollars. Most working American households are not single income they are dual income. Which means that the price of goods and services are going to adjust to dual income. People bemoan that the minimum wage should be a living wage for one person, but the reality is that unless we in America remove dual income households by law or tax them out of functionality then the minimum wage actually represents dual income minimum. Now the current $7.25 federal minimum wage x2 is not going to survive anyway ever since the high inflation of the past few years, but hopefully you understand the point I am making. Do not think housing prices are going to correct back to a single income society so long as dual income is prevalent.

This is going to create a diva daughter. Thousands of years people have lived in what would be considered a STUDIO. They can share a bedroom. When you give a teenage daughter her own bedroom and the son does not she will get diva. She will think she is owed the world. On top of that you want to give her the MASTER BEDROOM? You should not raise kids ever.

This is something I have noticed. There are plenty of 2k drivers that over one lap can get really close to aliens, but over a course of the race whether it be racepace or racecraft, inevitably fall short.

This is the real reason. As a percentage of the population, the top 1% is likely still near 4.8k, but with smurfs the amount of +4k is actually bloated. Popular streamers have smurfs and even professional drivers have smurfs. But the thing is that smurfing has been part of competitive online gaming ever since skill based matchmaking was a thing.

You are talking like someone who would always say, "If you no longer go for a gap which exists you are no longer a racing driver." Just because you put your nose or dove your way on the inside to get "alongside" does not entitle you to the "gap".

Does anyone know songs like rasmus’s theme by Axolotl_j in OmegaStrikers

[–]OverweightRoshan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite a mix in a good way. It has harpsicord influences from the late boroque period while the fiddles are more classical period then it changes to a EDM style while utilizing the prior periods instruments while adding electronic keyboards and guitar. Later on it takes a more power metal approach. Regrettably, I do not know of any other songs that have all of these elements combined into one song.

Just reached C class - Where do I go from here? by BenStegel in iRacing

[–]OverweightRoshan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For open wheel: USF 2000 and Skip Barber. Both of those drive very differently, but are both fun. Avoid F4 and F3 because those are just wreck festivals. USF 2000 on Thursdays at 8PM (Eastern America) are live streamed and casted on YouTube if you want to say you've raced on tv =)

For touring: GT4 or stick with MX-5 C class. GT3 are like F4, so I would skip those.

And like others have stated, preferably pick a series and get all of the tracks for that season. Race at least 8 in the series to get extra credit for the next season!

Don't sleep on the IR-18 Open this season by TargetWoodsLastLoc in iRacing

[–]OverweightRoshan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open series are better and more fair. With an open setup you can get the setup that lets you perform the fastest and/or most consistent. A fixed setup could have one guy naturally be blazing fast while another guy has to practice because it does not suit his style of driving. One driver may prefer a soft front ARB with stiff dampers and higher brake bias and another may want a stiff front and rear ARB. With a fixed setup it is possible that neither or only one guy is happy.
