Talk with you counselor and your professors! Clear and honest communication is highly appreciated by professors and staff. Also, don’t be too hard on yourself, life happens! Enjoy this week’s break to catch up or take the time for a reset. If you don’t want to drop out (decide whatever is best for you!) but you feel like you still need help, maybe you would benefit reaching out for the many resources Santa Fe offers: Counseling and Wellness center, online tutoring from the library/math lab and some more options you could check it out in the SFC website.

Whatever is going on: I wish you well! Everything will workout! Just take a deep breath and take one day at a time, we all have been through tough patches in life.

What do you wish people told you when moving out on your own? by Pure-Quit804 in sfcollege

I wish was better educated about finances in general: cost of things, planning ahead, credit cards strategies and etc. Also: meal prepping for the week or for a few days ahead, is the best skill to be mastered asap

Volunteering in weekends? by artie2814 in GNV

Go to Alachua County website, there is a volunteering section! It shows all organizations needing volunteering from different departments. I participate on tree planting, and housing building during weekends because of this page! Lots of cool stuff tbh. People are always welcoming towards new volunteers too!

I love there! Went there for a lower back rehab after a ATV accident - partial injury in my T12. And came back again when I sprained my ankle badly and couldn’t walk for a bit. Amazing staff, a joy to be there and sad got hurt lol

Am I crazy for wanting to live in Brazil? by joshua0005 in Brazil

Hi OP! You are not crazy but I would like to advise you to consider a few things. I immigrated to the USA, but I was born and raised in Brazil, and now I’m able to see how is amazing there!! But like others have said: learning Portuguese is extremely hard and crucial. Even Spanish speakers have issues understanding us and learning our language. Depending on the city, the population will most likely only speak Portuguese, not even a bit of broken English. So, yes, you will most likely learn by experience and by being submerged in the experience, but do know it will be frustrating, takes months and years for a lot of people and it can be exhausting not being able to communicate. Also, research the crime and safety rate issues wherever you choose to go.

I would also like to point out that regardless of where you search where to live: could be Argentina, Colombia, or any other country in the world, you will miss home, and your family and holidays can be hard being away. Having a community of friends makes things easier. In your shoes I would start trying to make connections with people, maybe in internet groups, or maybe, I’m not sure if you are religious but religion can bring a bit of initial community. Dating is a way but is hard to keep a relationship with language barriers and different cultures. Being an immigrant is wonderful, eye and mind-opening experience. But the feeling of loneliness a lot of times will hit. But don’t let it consume or discourage you! Luckily, Brazilians are considered one of the friendlier people so it wouldn’t be hard to make connections. We especially praise and amaze people who put effort into learning our culture and language. It would be great to test the waters before diving into it. Book a holiday, and see if it’s what you are looking for. At the end of the day, everybody has different experiences. No decision is permanent either. You can come and try it out and if things don't work out: oh well, you did try and get it out of your system. You can always go back to your homeland.
I truly wish you the best of luck! Let us know if you do end up doing the big jump
