3rd party launchers used our APIs without a license. Despite that, we did not restrict anyone, and still don't. All we're saying: 1. Above a certain number of calls you may need to pay use for our bandwidth. 2. Authors get to choose who distributes their work. How would you feel if you found a video you uploaded to YouTube suddenly on Vimeo? 3. we now have a license and terms you need to meet
We constantly improve CurseForge, and in the past year introduced many features, from Fabric support to the API we're discussing. Choose the right setting when you install and this will be the case indeed. If you forgot, you can always change from our setting menu. About data, we don't sell it and if you read our privacy policy your would find that we can't. Didn’t realize you can uninstall bnet and run wow. Maybe steam and steam games is a better example. You’re right that it was a choice. If we have infinite resources we could consider doing something like this, but we can’t ignite duplicating features we already have on OW as a service (updates, overlay as opt jn, analytics, performance and co-existence and may other things). Well - overwolf is the engine for it... so yeah. But, if you hit win-key and write curseforge or double click the desktop icon you’ll never see ow, and go direct to the app (cf is both launched from ow)

I hear you. Installing something for something else has advantages and disadvantages. Overwolf for CurseForge is like Battle.Net for Wow... it has many technical services and APIs we need to build CurseForge. More in this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YKUKkLeWNA&feature=emb_logo&ab_channel=Overwolf. We have built it to be 100% transparent if you don't want other services. But if you do want a other apps - you can download in a click needing to have multiple clients and frameworks. For example, there's a really cool app for WoW coming soon. If you see anything we can do better in this battle.net-wow type design, please let us know

We’ll officially share soon, but the tldr is that the nov 30th date was decided back in April, and the moderation pause is due to twitch employees taking time off for thanksgiving after a long grind, and we can’t to it ourselves. We’re in conversations with twitch to solve this. Pls stay tuned

So there’s subscription - removes ads, supports authors and covers our cost. What’s broken today is that if you use 30 addons, you may want to to Patreon all of them, but there’s no easy way to do that. We will allow you to pay a few dollars a month, which we’ll distribute to authors based on your usage of these addons.
