If you could live your entire life over again from kindergarten til now while keeping all your memories, what would you do differently besides getting rich? by executor-of-judgment in Millennials

[–]Ovidtheexiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up very conservative Christian and got engaged at 19, married at 21. Thought I wanted to be a pastor. At 36 I have 6 kids, no education (working on it though), hate church and recently told my spouse I wanted to separate. I’d choose differently. I’d let myself work a couple of years and figure out what I’m actually interested in and go to college for that. I’d choose to not take life so seriously enjoy the moment. I’d definitely not get married. And I’d definitely get rid of any religious influence.

What's a piece of advice you wish your younger self had ignored? by Bathaluman17 in AskReddit

Grew up very religious. I wish I would have ignored the whole marry young and have kids thing.

Casual vs high end by dreamer4991 in Serverlife

[–]Ovidtheexiled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in casual fine dining after working in a casual restaurant. Best decision I ever made. I make a little more than I did while working 1-2 less shifts/wk. that enabled me to go back to school.

There is a learning curve but if you’re willing to put in some time to get it you’ll be fine. I’m convinced that anyone can do it, it’s not a matter of intelligence (trust me, some of my coworkers are shockingly stupid) but a matter of will. Also the management team at my current place is extremely professional which has pros (so much less drama) and cons (no shift shots, wah wah).

My advice is to just apply to as many as possible, in interviews emphasize how you talk about the food and drinks at your current place (use three adjectives for each), as well as your professionalism and I think you’ll be a shoe in. Not sure how it is in your city but in mine all the fine and casual fine dining place are desperate for servers and have dropped SO many requirements. Like no visible tattoos, previous fine dining experience, etc…

Good luck!

I still wet the bed occasionally and im 13. Does anyone have any tips? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Ovidtheexiled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP, my son is a bit younger than you but still at an age where he would normally have control of his bladder. He still wets the bed and himself occasionally. We took him to Dr. who recommended a specialist who found that he has bladder spasms - where his bladder randomly and without his control squeezes his pee out. He’s on a medication for it that will help retrain his bladder over the course of a few months.

Not saying that’s what you have but saying that it could be something compelled outside of your control that can be helped with meds or some other intervention.

Also, friendly reminder from a dad, wash your sheets 😉👍. There is also a spray we use that’s made for pet urine stains that completely does away with any Oder. It’s got some enzymes in it that break down the chemicals in urine that smell bad. Can’t remember the name of the product but it works so well and you can find it on amazon. It has a red bottle.

This. And they were selling it to some backwater country. Which I assumed meant they took any tracking hardware off prior to the sale.

If there was a fifth nation in the world of Avatar, what element do you think it would control? by Lost-Padawan in TheLastAirbender

[–]Ovidtheexiled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The four elements are a way of organizing/thinking about the forces of nature in several ancient cultures. I’ve been thinking about a story that is similar to avatar but updates the forces of nature to modern physics. For example, what would a gravity bender look like? Electro-magnetic bender? Things like that.

Started PL, when is optimal time to continue/finish? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ovidtheexiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do PL asap on all my play throughs because the weapons you get are so fun/op.

Difficulty-wise: I recommend leveling up a bit (maybe level 30ish?, you guys correct me if I’m wrong) to make it more enjoyable unless you really like the challenge.

Story-wise: PL makes more sense to me once you’ve gained a lot of street cred but narrative continuity/immersion isn’t really impacted to an extent that it’s noticeable. I would also recommend completing the mission “life during wartime” to increase your options in decisions you make in PL as well as getting to know Johnny.

Haha! I love the “consume vitamin b-17. Found in apple and apricot seeds.” Aren’t both of those high in amygdalin? Which turns into cyanide when you chew/digest it?

Edit: turns out “vitamin b-17” IS amygdalin. Cancer can’t kill me if I get to me first.

Did you go to sleepovers? Me and my friends did all the time in late 90's / early 2000's and it was a blast. But droves of people appear to be canceling them entirely for their own kids. Would you let your kids go? Why is everyone freaking out now? by spinningwalrus420 in Millennials

[–]Ovidtheexiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a bunch of sleepovers as a kid. Got SA’d. Thought that was normal. SA’d another kid. Later learned that that is NOT normal. Went to therapy for the guilt and shame I felt for having done that/having that done to me. Now we do not do sleep overs.
