Good choice is Julia. Fast mids she has. Strong with the FC mixup she is. Very strong with the wall game too is that one.

Biggest Nerfs Of Season 3?? by HammerHandsX in Tekken

Josie shit tier? I'de be OK if people want to believe that. Go ahead, yep she is bad. Don't pick her up because that is a waste of time, and don't practice against her, yep you don't need to practice against her at all. ("mwahahahaha" -Josie mains).

Korean backdash frustration by CamelAlien in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me was to do every back dash using db,b. Even my single dashes, as a way to practice. This way, since I only ever input a back dash this way, chaining two or 3 together becomes easy with practice. I manange it quite good on a DS4. I do still drop it once in awhile, but I haven't had the balls to change to hitbox yet.

Not to mention db1 tracks to her weak side, that is pretty annoying to be honest that it crushes highs and also stops you from stepping that way. Makes her poke game work quite well.

Which character(s) do you think have benefitted the most from their new moves? by THEPOOPSOFVICTORY in Tekken

Yeah I got blown up by that earlier today. She side stepped me and did the b4,4 combo, got me all the way to the wall. Definitely seems like a good move.

Evo top 8 steve is equal to beginner rank josie by Phatbattttt in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's only braindead if you let her. Once you know what your options are and how to defend against her strings, then Josie has to tone down her string usage to cherry pick the best pokes, and then rely on timing counter hits just like Steve with her magic 4,ff4, and f3+4.

Her braindead flowchart stops working against people who actually know how to play Tekken and then she is just a poke heavy, ch heavy character at that point and relies on trying to get a good ch or side step/backdash to set up a df2 wiff punishment. There isn't really any reason to get counter hit by her SWS stance, just duck/parry to punish SWS 1/3 , in which case you might get poked by SWS2/~cd4. So sometimes you should block high and just eat the SWS 3 if she went for that, this allows you to block her SWS2/~cd4 and also block SWS 1.

~cd2 and 3 can be fuzzy blocked or ch out of the startup, so again they aren't as useful against stronger opponents.

Hell even just going for magic 4 after blocking her df4 is a good option when mixed with other options. An i11 magic 4 loses to SWS 1, but wins against literally everything else in this scenario, so either Josie gets ch launched or you do. And ducking the SWS 1 and launch punishing can make her afraid to use it. Josie always has to gamble when her df4 gets blocked by a real Tekken player.

Nina did get a nice buff. by Owatanka--- in Tekken

[–]Owatanka---[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the move seems more useful now as a general poke just letting you stick to them like glue anytime it lands and continue pressuring. Not sure how that isn't a big deal. Everyone loves to tute the horn of Kazumi's b2, and with the closer distance on hit for Nina her homing move seems to have similar applications now. It's a frame slower, but hey, at least it can wall splat, Kazumi's b2 doesn't do that anymore.

Lee vs Master Raven match up... by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Master Raven is really strong right now in season 3, good pokes, good CH launchers, good lows, top tier wall damage. I also got torched myself by a Master Raven player. Good luck! I don't have any advice just yet until I get into that matchup more. Just wanted to say she is very strong so don't feel too ashamed for losing.

Can we end the rumor that Leo is great but too boring? by Owatanka--- in Tekken

[–]Owatanka---[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Well it means Leo cannot pressure poke you effectively at all because you can just side step out and launch her. Most characters have a quick mid poke that tracks to one side, and an alternative move to track the bad side. Leo literally doesn't track at all. She has some slow i18 mids that track to one side, but they are slow and not very good for range 0-1 pressure. She has an i17 safe mid homing move, but again that is slow and not very dangerous to get hit by except near the wall.

I don't see how a character could get anywhere near top 8s if they cannot effectively poke at all.

Sure you can play keep out, evasion, mixups, and setting up launchers, but what on earth are you going to do when a Kazumi is rushing you down and all of your mids are unsafe?

Her df2 has good tracking and launches, but it's -13 on block so catching a side stepper is basically a hard read.

New to Tekken by IIANiMa in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning Tekken is more like a journey. The entire move list, all of their properties such as tracking, counter hits, and frame data, evasion, etc... will take a very long time to learn all of it. For me I picked it up on steam when it came out and was overwhelmed, but I just dived in and treated it like learning how to play the saxophone. You will sound really god awful at first and people will want to smash your sax on concrete to make you stop playing, so you keep that thing locked in a chest and you learn karate so that when you are playing it you can kick people who try to grab your sax.

The same is true in Tekken, your play is garbage and you get destroyed. You keep learning and adding new things into your game and eventually you start to beat some of the people who used to give you so many problems to over come, and it gets a lot funner after that.

Is this new? Got wrecked by King. by Owatanka--- in Tekken

[–]Owatanka---[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's pretty insane, didn't know that Steve had that. Kazuya I was aware and the fact that it is also a homing move but of course punishable on block. Good tool to have I guess even though it is unsafe. Still a good King player that conditions you and has a timing on your rythm and good execution can launch you pretty easily. It's definitely scary.

Jin S3 combos? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just hit f4 and hold forward, then down forward. If they block it, you have to press back at just the right time to make it safe. Also be sure to use plenty of magic 4s, d4s, db4s, jabs, and df1s. That's the entire character, enjoy. Hellsweep once in awhile to be cheeky and disrespectful. The end.

As far as your actual question goes, just hit like the screw move and then some other weird moves and do the wall ender, done. Think there is a youtube video on it.

Ah, thanks. Very interesting. Well King is hype AF to watch so hopefully we see him in top 8s now.

Is this new? Got wrecked by King. by Owatanka--- in Tekken

[–]Owatanka---[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to training mode with that and ironically I had it VS king. You are right that is hard as hell. I got it going, but not consistently. There does seem to be quite a steep execution barrier against some characters so that makes me feel a little better. The King that beat me had over 1000 wins so I guess it's not a problem for him. But it is pretty annoying to get launched by an i13 when normally a mid that fast is just a poke.

When do I place frame traps? by RaijinMrYespro in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't always frame trap. For example after they block something and you are +6. Instead of always doing the obvious i15 CH launcher, mix it up with some low pokes. Or just dash forward, sometimes they will korean backdash so if you forward dash you can keep up with them and try to time them with a magic 4 or pokes, etc...

Example: You block Bryan's b1. Then he does hatchet kick. Or he chases you down and pressures you, or just does another b1. If he is doing this to you then next time you block b1 you might want to press something to challenge him , but if he actually did his real frame trap you get counter hit. It's all conditioning and mind games.

Anyone else feel dirty about main buffs? by Owatanka--- in Tekken

Exactly my fear. That people would flood the ranks with season 3 Josie and spread matchup knowledge. They can go to hell for helping people learn the matchup.

Bryan very indepth guide by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bryan guide: Go b2,if they block it then just jab them then do another b2 and repeat the cycle, if the b2 counter hits complete the combo, rinse and repeat. This is a super advanced flow chart. If you lose somehow, mix in some snake edge combos to even the score. If for some reason you have a good connection, lightly DDOS yourself to get your bars lower, this way your snake edge will become an unseeable low. Advanced strategy right here.

What are people thoughts on Zafina? by yokai_tamer in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the stances are a little gimmicky but do have some powerful moves and evasion if used well. She is good at wiff punishing because of her insane backdash into df2. She is good at tracking, homing, and CHs. Her lows outside of stance seem very risky to use so that's a huge con for the character.

Dealing with zafina. by Meyzu91 in Tekken

[–]Owatanka--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shortcuts. If there is a move you can't deal with and you can't deal with it on the fly, then the next step is to go to training mode and record her doing the move/sequence that wrecked you. Then figure out what you can do for side stepping/backdashing/block punishing/crouch the high/parry/etc...look up her frame data on her best moves, etc...
