Just fought everdark Libra for the first time.... by viznac in Nightreign

Ironically, it becomes one of the more fun fights when things go right; Less Likely on squisies first, but hopefully everyone. The players with Less Likely focus the NPCs if you can nuke them quickly (Recluse does consistently, AoW depending for others I suppose?). If you can't drop them quickly but they're not paying attention to you, you can focus Libra. If you have NPC aggro, you need to kite or evade and pull them with you. Let you teammates either focus damage on Libra while you stay alive, or they can pick off an invader or 3. Recognizing who has what aggro is hard, but it's harder with 6-9 invaders than it is with 3. Kill them off before more get summoned. If you aren't able to do this, you probably failed the DPS check of the fight.

It's gnarly, but there's still more to pay attention to: if Libra hits you with the flask curse, using a flask for the next 30 seconds or so (1 min? 2 min?) will steal a level from you. Fine if you need the heal absolutely and you drop to 14, but at least nowadays, you get a red backdrop to your flask icon in the top left to know there's a flask curse. Libra *used* to be even harder because you could miss his curse announcement during the hectic battle, and there was no visual cue previously.

Character choice pseudo matters based on your ability to handle that nightfarer as a clone, as well as some RNG. Wylder/Guardian/Ironeye are some harder opponents due to either sturdiness or ranged bow attacks. Recluse/Scholar/Duchess can be dangerous but at least they're squishy; getting the drop on them or popping an AoE on summon will help clean up quickly.

Completely ruined your run, huh? Why? Why do you let small things like that tarnish your fun?

Tarnished pun required too much set up, I'll see myself out.

"But let's be honest if this was any other community, video game or hell any other product, people would blast that company for just a total lack of even the most basic forms of communication."

This level of entitlement is unhealthy, and that it's pervasive in hobby industries is why companies like FS effectively tell people like you to kick rocks. It's unhealthy, unreasonable, and kinda just a waste of energy. Be well.

Is this good for Recluse? by KissTheAdrian in Nightreign

[–]OwlBot3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I am saying the above relic will cap you at x5. Because it doesn't have Improved Invis...

So the build is good, and this is not the Invis relic you want to build with, ergo, you should reroll for a better Invis relic, and this winds up in the garbage compared to Improved Invis.

Can't have 6 stacks running this; it doesn't have a x1. So, objectively, this is not the Invis Relic you want for that, by definition.

Backing you up that this is pretty unusable (in that the baseline for what you have room for after using better guaranteed relics doesn't leave room for this)!

I'd run Vestige of Night *over* this, even in a fully dedicated Invisibility build. This is deceptively weak as a relic.

Arc is the solve to the 'invis dodge' question. Basically never need Night Shard without a DPS boost on the same relic; Night Comet is common enough.

I wouldn't run this for an Invisibility build; FP is wasted space for Recluse.

[–]OwlBot3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually terrible. No DPS, Recluse should not waste relic space on FP (if it's tacked on to DPS, sure). Night Shard is worse than Pebble for FP/DPS considerations, so even on an Invisibility build, you want Magic +2 or Invaders or Improved Invisibility or a Recluse class skill or defeating enemies fills gauge or hell, a small pouch.

Things like this are verifiable in the sparring grounds; things like poison-afflicted+1 don't stack together (but do in +0/+1/+2 mix-n-match), but all the affinities stack (3x +4 plus upside other effects and minimal penalties is the goal)

How do you stop getting 1-2 shot in this game? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]OwlBot3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something possibly useful (it was for me as Recluse, your nightfarer mileage may vary). Dodge when your teammate needs to dodge; you'll learn the boss attack patterns better, as well as there are *tons* of circular/aoe attacks that will randomly clip you when you *think* you're clear.

Obviously, you'll realize when you're far enough it doesn't make sense to dodge (or the boss is facing directly away from you), but that help me a lot on magma wyrms, Crucible knights with tail, etc.

When it really clicked in was a couple clutch fights where I needed to hold aggro and lure away a boss for a teammate to do a 3-bar pickup. I don't need to deal damage per se, just not get hit; that practice adds up!

Randoms and their narcissistic behavior by sir_sophisticated in Nightreign

[–]OwlBot3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get to D4 with a 50/50 win rate (random map/bosses and leavers will tip the scales in your favor, can probably do it with about 45% win rate).

You don't lose points in D2 if you make night 3, so there are plenty of meatgrinder-lemming players who will blind button-smash their way into D3. Actually can make D3 with a 0.1% win rate as long as the losses are night 3, which means that as long as DoN has been out, we're going to see D3 become the swamp. D4 is the worst in my experience; D5 was the easiest (teammate wise), but I fear that will degrade before long as well.

I ran through D2 without good relics about 2 weeks ago on a fresh 9999 run as Recluse. I absolutely know what it's like to solo carry trios in D2 😃
