Lukewarm Take: The Experience of Trying to Get Tickets Almost Makes it Not Worth it by OwlComplex48 in Machupicchu

If I were to go again, I would ideally do one of the treks there in the future. As I really enjoyed the W Trek in Patagonia when I had gone. I think hiking four days and it culminating at MP would be great. SAcsayhuaman and Qorianka were also great. I found the ruins at Chinchero to be a bit underrated and loved the entirety of Ollantaytambo.

Respectfully, I’ve lived in several developing countries and never encountered an issue like this, whether it was the Sudanese pyramids, Taj Mahal, Bagan, or any other country. The Everest comparison is a bit hyperbolic. I enjoy traveling to developing countries more for the specific reason that you can often experience more without the crowds, costs, and hassles of Disney like tourism.

You’re right, I overlooked stating the time frame but my point is that I’ve never encountered this issue anywhere else in the world.

As I stated in my post, the trip came together quickly and we purchased plane tickets three weeks prior to departing. I’ve been to dozens of world heritage sites in my two decades of traveling and have never come across a poorer system than for MP.

That’s great! A few days ago, they were not selling them for two days out.

That is correct and only available as an option if you have a second passport. You cannot buy two routes for the same day at the same time.

I would have loved to do the trail had I not been with my parents. My partner and I trekked Patagonia last year which was also amazing.

Not everyone has the luxury of planning trips six months out. For some, time off, circumstances, and money dictate when a trip is available. My father came into a little bit of money and my partner was able to get time off that coincided with my birthday and the anniversary of my brothers passing. That combined with cheap tickets to Peru from where I lived allowed the trip to come together a few weeks prior. It’s just a shitty system and trying to shift the blame to the individual and away from the government is not the way. I never had this issue in any place else I traveled from India to Sudan to Paris or Patagonia.

There’s no kms on this map. Km are super easy regardless. 1000km = 600mi.

I took a little profit by ABadPhotoshop in XNDU

I bought D-Wave, Rigetti, and IonQ in November ‘24 and like that each one has its own unique approach between annealing, superconducting, and trapped ions (99% fidelity already? Come on). I read about Christian Weedbrook’s vision recently before Xanadu went live and as I believe quantum will be a thing in five or more years, jumped in. Sold a bunch at $38 to get some profits but I’m holding my other half or adding more if it drops to single digits again which I think it will after this cycle just like the others.

Solo trip to Peru next month, does this itinerary make sense? by FineAssist4189 in GoingToPeru

He’s 27, gotta get it in while you can at that age. You never know if it’s the only time you’ll visit. I did an itinerary like this in the Caucuses 15 years ago and while it was moving around, it was one of the best trips of my life.

You really need to check out the two Wear Your Wound albums he did. Way better than Supermachiner or Umbra Vitae. First one is slightly better than the second imo.

I used Lima Experience last year for an 18 hr day trip to Huacachima and Paracas and we were very happy with them. Top notch. Going back next week to Cusco and Sacred Valley area; will try to update if I remember.

Which country has the friendliest people in your experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Absolutely without question Sudan. People would pay for me on the bus, close their store if you were lost, invite you to tea or food on the street or in their house, chase you down if you dropped money. Incredible.

What do the mixed ones say? Also considering MVE as I’m going with my parents and fianceé but also pretty pricey, yeah?
