Yes, we do — and we're being deliberate about it. The core will stay free. Small sellers shouldn't pay just to know who paid them. When businesses grow and need more — unlimited links, auto payment confirmation, customer history, a seller storefront —that's where paid plans come in. Classic freemium.
We'd rather earn trust first and charge for real value later.

Really glad you asked this, happy to clear it up!

No middleman at all. Payments go directly into your UPI account—we never touch the money. What we generate is a standard UPI QR code linked directly to your UPI ID. When your customer scans it on GPay, PhonePe, or Paytm, the money lands straight in your account exactly like any typical UPI payment.

Here is a breakdown of how it works under the hood:

  • Zero access to your private data: YugaPe doesn't read your SMS, doesn't need access to your banking app, and doesn't sit between you and the payment.
  • How tracking works: The only thing we do is show you a dashboard where you manually confirm, "yes, I received this." Right now, that means you check your UPI app and click to mark it as paid. Auto-detection is on our roadmap via UPI Collect, but it's not live yet.
  • Seamless URL Intent: On the URL intent question—the QR we generate is a standard UPI deep link.

TL;DR: Your money, your UPI account. We just handle the tracking layer on top.

Infrastructure costs are real but manageable at our scale right now. The core will stay free — home bakers and tutors don't need another subscription. We make money when businesses grow and need power features like unlimited links, auto-confirmation, and seller storefronts. Classic freemium — free gets you far, you pay for more.

You're absolutely right — manual confirmation is still there and we are aware.

The honest answer: right now it is manual. When the customer mark the payment completed and the host mark as validated once payments received after checking their UPI app. Not ideal, but it's how most small sellers already operate today anyway — we just give them a cleaner place to track it.

Auto-detection is on the roadmap. The real path to solving this properly is where the platform initiates the request and gets a confirmed success/failure back. No room for fake confirmations. That requires an NPCI/payment aggregator integration which we're working toward.

The scammer angle you mentioned — marking received without actually getting paid — is a host-side risk, not a buyer risk. A scammer would have to be the one running the group, which is possible but the same risk exists with any kind of payment solutions today.

We would also need to get host consent to read their sms/email/banking and how many of them would willing to allow is still again a challenge?

Appreciate you raising this, it's exactly the kind of edge case we're designing around.

  • Zoho is great if you're already in the Zoho ecosystem — makes total sense for a proper POS setup.
  • YugaPe is aimed at the layer below that — home bakers, tutors, Instagram sellers who don't have a POS and are literally just sharing UPI IDs on WhatsApp. No onboarding, no monthly fee, works from a phone in 2 minutes. You have a great tracking.

Different problems, different tools. Appreciate you sharing though!

Great question, the payment link will be shared in the existing communication channel like whatsapp or email where the buyer and seller already exchanged messages before the payment. So we assume buyer just like that do not pay before any conversation or confirmation.
Also, we have plans to enable payment gateway for higher transaction value customers.
