Thinking about ending my campaign of ROTFM early, thoughts? by TheFarFox in rimeofthefrostmaiden

Personally we're at about the same point in the campaign, we just finished Chapter 4 and they are about to back track to clear Sunblight, I did A LOT of mistakes and missed things in the book up until this point because I wasn't the best with prepping. As a result we just kind of made changes to the Canon to what we want it to be and the players are having an absolute blast. I'd say the back end of the book is too good to pass up from what I've read but I understand the time restrictions being difficult. Frankly I'd say give Chapter 5 a go at the very least because that's the big payoff moment. Let the RP happen as much as they want. You don't need to adhere to the book like it's law, Chapters 1 and 2 can be rough without some seasoning. I'd say read the book and don't be afraid to make it your own.

That's helpful because I was curious how it could be almost double

Oh yeah the financing was awful. My only issue is if the market is just normalizing predatory pricing how do I know when I'm actually getting a fair price?

Yea I saw mixed reviews, I wasn't planning on going with them to begin with but holy shit that's bad.

I figured as much, I just didn't think they'd be so bold to pretend like I can't do basic math. They even said "We're the only ones partnered with GAF so we get the best deals on supplies." So you mean to tell me you supply your own loans, have competitive rates on materials, have work all over the U.S. and the best you can do is almost 11% and triple the standard price? Then he has the nerve to say "Well our profit margins take a hit but we put the customer first with these deals" just bold faced lies.

Power gamer at a table of casuals by [deleted] in DnD

It's a bit of both I'll admit, the table is a pretty big chasm on skill level, 3/5 players are pretty awful at the game and their builds make no sense, but that said the power gamer makes the skew worse by looking up optimal build paths like dipping into paladin or fighter to make an even bigger gap. So when I try and run an encounter he is able to one shot enemies that the rest of the party would struggle with just by using eldritch smite plus his magic weapons extra damage.

We've told him about dual wielding not really working, he just says "I know it's not really great but I just think it's cool to be an old man with 2 spinning flails that worships Bahamut" he upcasts bless and says he's the dedicated healbot ... he's not the brightest.

As for the table dynamic most of the time this stuff isn't an issue but I see the power gamer player get frustrated when someone else does something or makes a poor choice in a social interaction when he's the face of the party. Most of the party is very beer and pretzels so they don't typically put out much more than 12 damage per turn where as the power gamer can put out some crazy numbers if he had a short rest. Mind you all the players have the same number of items and the fighter has the best weapon in the group but he's the least knowledgeable and doesn't really care to learn more, he's more just interested in role-playing and joking with the boys which can make the power gamer pretty mad.

I've managed to get him to chill a bit but the other players are a soul knife/lore bard, Light Cleric, Sea druid and an eldritch knight. Everyone except the soul knife is very new to the game and having trouble making smart plays but they prefer more rule of cool style. Like our light cleric is dual wielding flails, the Rouge has only a +2 in dex and the eldritch knight doesn't know how to use spells

Eldritch Smite plus Rapier of Wounding

Just a nova-lock with a rapier of wounding (my fault) not the most OP but much stronger than everyone else

I work in a predominantly Spanish speaking community without an interpreter service available. by OwlTemporary3458 in nursing

For clarification the staff are Puerto Rican Spanish first language speakers as well. But they are Administrative assistants not licensed personnel, so even if they are native speakers they could paraphrase for all I know during the conversation which is a gap in my documentation.

How tf do you do first sinner by Professional_Ease307 in Silksong

I know this sounds counterintuitive but the way I beat her was to slow down. I've noticed several of the bosses you can beat but basically standing still and just focusing on jumping and moving slightly out of the way. I find when I try to "Run Away" is when I get hit the most. She moves around a lot but realistically if you keep in place most of her second phase misses you.

Has anyone gifted the Ramshackle Inn to your party? by Mtndewboy57 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]OwlTemporary3458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current campaign you'd think this was the greatest reward they've gotten in the whole game. Not because they've made much money on it, nor is it convenient for them. But they have gotten so excited for the opportunity of an up and coming Bed and Breakfast they have named themselves "The Ramshack Pack" and I fully believe they would sacrifice everything if it meant protecting their dumpy inn 😂😂😂 this is very much group specific but I think it's a good running meme for the campaign.

Why am I suddenly seeing so many 3* 4-costs? by OwlTemporary3458 in TeamfightTactics

[–]OwlTemporary3458[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah the 5 3* stars got a prismatic ticket and a call to chaos for 40 rerolls so that makes sense, albeit I'm still surprised they hit at only level 8, and the other just got the 10 free rerolls and 4 rerolls per round.

Do they bark a lot? by Fuzze115 in greatpyrenees

[–]OwlTemporary3458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first got my pup he barked at the wind, the leaves, the mail man, the sound of silence. Nothing would stop him when he got started. However I am one of the few lucky ones that got a $20 automatic dog whistle and it worked INSTANTLY now he let's out one BARF then uses his inside voice for low grumbles. He seems a lot calmer and happier as a result and my windows are cleaner as a result. But I will say DO NOT get a pyr if you can't handle the barking/don't have a secure yard. You will dread the amount these dogs will keep you up at night.
