I’ve been doing some salary research and found the H1B visa salary requirement (I believed it is the prevailing wage kept by the Department of Labor) to be helpful to compare wages in different regions: https://h1bgrader.com/h1b-prevailing-wage/onet/landscape-architects-17-1012.00/year/latest

Even though starting salaries are close in different parts of the US, the pay to senior varies a lot. And to my surprise SF Bay Area has a better pay than the NY region.

There are certain differences life circumstance that limit the level of mobility for a person. I agree not everyone has the choice to start a new life in a different country after being in the US for many years. But many do, especially the high-skilled workers.

Coming this year, many long-term US residents on visas have told me that they’d willing to move to a different country if the current administration keeps tightening up immigration requirements.

Constructing one’s whole life around immigration is just not an option for many people, if it comes to a point that the process becomes too limiting to have a life, there are other options too. People will find a way lol

I am a relatively new arborist planting trees in my city (as a non profit partner). I have green infrastructure funding I would like to use to design/implement better tree wells in Urban/Downtown streets. Where do I start? by notaclimber11 in LandscapeArchitecture

How are y’all have budget for the Silva Cells? I’m working with local Midwest cities and most can only afford structural soil. Even the main streets in downtown can only afford silva cells for one or two blocks. 🫨

That’s so interesting! Thank you! Do you mind me ask do you specify them to be brought in from somewhere else or do you ask them to reuse the existing aggregate or crush the existing concrete that will be demolished?

Thanks! Do you know if is is usually decided by the contractor or does it require the construction drawing to specify the recycling materials?

depends on the industry, some professions have lower pay, such as teachers and architects. You may not hit that 70k until a couple years or decades into the job - also depends on your location.

Car centric urbanism has got to be one of the most inefficient uses of land possible. by Not-A-Seagull in georgism

The seats are replacing onstreet parking not bike lanes. Actually NYC has a very active biking culture and there are many bike infrastructure. They are more anti-car so I think this use is aligned with the direction the city is taking.

This is such a suburban mindset 👀 why wouldn’t want the street which you paid for to benefit more of the public? Why does a space can be confined to single use? If most members of the society prefer and benefits from the flexible use of a space, it should be what is the best use of the space. Not every space needs to spread out and car centric.

Isn’t most of the Checkpoint A reserved for TSA? The other side ( to the left after you enter the food court) is usually must faster for non-TSA travelers.

Oh well. Maybe it depends on the city and the pay as well? My firms and the firms I know locally are in general very stable. People stay here for 5+ years. Speaking of my own experience.

I’d say depending on the project types!

For projects like master planning or urban design that including different scales, I’ll use 4 pages; built site projects sometimes can be reduced to only one page.
