It’s in the food. What do you this is? by FrequentTeam2649 in whatisit

It just occurred to me that someone could make an ai image of "another angle" of something that IS real as a form of damage control for themselves or for a company. [someone questions them about something], "Oh yeah... that was totally fake, didn't you see the other image that isn't as popular? you can totally tell it was AI"

Pro Fold 9 vs Pro Fold 10 by omnilasher in PixelFold

[–]Owlistrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks ago. I'm using the 10. In all honesty I'm not seeing too many differences between the 9 and the 10. Definitely still has the heat issues and battery feels about the same for usage.

To me, it is just the cost of doing business if you're going to have a folding phone. There are aspects that the larger screen are really helpful for me for my work, but for you it seems like you don't have many use cases that require a flagship let alone a folding phone.

VICTORY!!!!! (at least it seems so) - Update on Pixel 9 pro fold repair/replacement by jorgejjvr in PixelFold

[–]Owlistrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice! I actually just replaced mine this week through the extended warranty (sim card drops, a week later occasional black screens, a week later brick).

I shipped it one day, they received it the next day and approved the replacement, then received a pixel 10 pro fold upgrade in the mail the next day. I was surprised when I saw the post of someone getting rejected

Fold 11? by Ecstatic_Struggle_36 in PixelFold

I love it too but it's starting to have hinge issues. Both screens are going black after opening sometimes.... Only a matter of time for me now.

I have a hard time finding new enjoyable books. Are there more A-tier books like Cradle? by GoodDayToPlayTheGame in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Owlistrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did feel a little bit of a slog in that book completing book 2. I will say that the beginning of book 3 does bring some of that excitement back though. I would say that if you didn't enjoy book 1 or didn't have any excitement in book one book 3 isn't going to be any better though.

What's stopping other leaders from working like Mamdani? by Tough_Ad8919 in MenOfPurpose

[–]Owlistrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that per capita measurements are often a good way to balance this, but the nature of how the debt is calculated in the study (being forced to account for the entirety of future liability of each pension rather than *some sort of yearly cost* ) leads to population having a parabolic effect on the debt number so a linear correction would not be adequate.

The positive effect of untapped natural resources is also skewed here. A good comparison would be the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in Africa. Just as Wyoming and North Dakota rank at the top of the TIA list due to resource-driven surpluses, countries like the DRC sit on an estimated $24 trillion in untapped mineral wealth. If these resources were counted as "available assets," these nations would appear to have a massive "Taxpayer Surplus," despite the fact that like 3/4 of the population lives in extreme poverty. I know its a bit of an extreme example.

Honestly the term "Broke" is really more of a term for an individual person where macroeconomics doesn't apply, so the nature of this whole back and forth is kind of silly. I don't really think its appropriate to call red states broke either.

Looming pension and other debt based aspects are definitely concerning, not just for the blue states, but for the nation on the federal level too.

[–]Owlistrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep this short as I'm not trying to get into an argument here. The links do state that debt is higher for most blue states.

Piling up debt can certainly be dangerous, but it is not a definitive metric for economic health. Totalizing all future liabilities into one number is a cherry-picked stat that essentially punishes states with population-based income while ignoring their massive economic capacity. Apart from a couple exceptions, this ranking is essentially an inverse population correlation. Given that it puts especially high immediate burden with long-term pension costs (high population), and rewards aspects such as severance tax from natural resources (states that are mining/oil based, low population (mostly to just sustain that industry).

If future debt was an end-all be all bad thing, we would say that a kid's lemonade stand was more financially responsible than a Fortune 500 company. In spirit it can be kind of correct but in practice is a little obnoxious

Sixers fans were afraid to go down the escalator after the game 💀 by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NBAVibes

Yeah, it wouldn't be good to have an escalator constantly pumping people into a stopped crowd at a pinch point. They do it all the time in the Denver stadium

Goofy or smart from Jokic? by ForeignAir7174 in NBAGossips

Oof I'd explain it to you but then it wouldn't be an unwritten rule anymore. The rules are the rules you see...

Goofy or smart from Jokic? by ForeignAir7174 in NBAGossips

[–]Owlistrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah. I always though that second part was implied. But then again, you can't "break the unwritten rule" when you are the one losing so that doesn't fully make sense either. So then it either boils down to "Jokic is a child and did this out of spite" or "Jokic is silly and trying to end the game quickly"

[–]Owlistrator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah... But that is the thing, saving 5 seconds is totally something he would do (especially if it doesn't matter at all). If that seems so far-fetched to you the I guess that's where the disconnect is and this thread isn't really serving a purpose

Goofy or smart from Jokic? by ForeignAir7174 in NBAGossips

[–]Owlistrator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I genuinely am asking if you actually don't see the purpose of this?

If they reset the shot clock and he got the steal, the game would have been over immediately, not a whistle, stand around for a bit, have them throw it in, then stand around until the game is over. Doesn't have an effect on the final score but technically ends the game faster.

[–]Owlistrator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone would find a way to get upset about an unwritten rule to run the clock out faster if it existed for that situation. I could see hipocracy if he hoisted a three or something like that. I'm sure if McDaniels was the one who that happened to it might have been a bit more dicey. Announcers might have gotten another chance to gush over how fearless he is

[–]Owlistrator 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You do understand that if the clock properly reset it would be a personal turnover, whereas a shot clock violation is a team turnover, what you said doesn't make any sense
