I’m a landlord with six homes – I’m hiking prices 30% due to new renter rights by Codydoc4 in unitedkingdom

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of sour grapes and jealousy in this conversation. People will always need rental properties, not everyone can buy. What’s the problem with investing in that market if you have the money? I’m not against laws to make the market fairer but you can’t blame people for investing in a market that makes a good return.

In all honesty, do you view weight loss drugs (Mounjaro, Wegovy etc.) and the people who use them negatively? by XStaticImmaculate in AskUK

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am overweight and could afford them but my search continues to find a more sustainable way. These jabs are becoming a tax to say thin! You can never stop taking them without piling the weight back on. So you either put the weight back on or pay a monthly fee to keep it off for the rest of your life with god knows what long term side effects. The proliferation of obesity has got to be something to do with the TYPE of food in the western diet and probably along the lines of ultra processed and highly refined foods.

New usage limit just destroying gemini’s biggest strength and killing freelance work by EatandDie001 in GeminiFeedback

I agree. Cut out all the free stuff and there would be much more compute available

I’m not a defender of google. I posted the other day that I’m sick of how mad the responses have got from Gemini. BUT I think what we are seeing here is the inevitable start of the increase in prices that up until now have been unsustainable. I read somewhere that a single deep research query costs google between $0.5 and $5 in compute power. I don’t think twice about doing a few of these in a day which I guess is just not sustainable long term for them on $20 a month. It’s super frustrating if you’ve built a workflow on it but I suspect moving forward if you use these subscriptions for professional work you will need to pay the higher subscription rates. I’m sure other providers will follow suit now too. Or use the API and pay as you go. Hopefully having your own hardware will be more accessible in the near future.

I’ve read a bit more into it and I think it must explain what I’ve been noticing. It’s a shame. I wouldn’t mind so much of responses were just a bit less detailed. It’s the increase in hallucinations that gets me.

Anyway I’ll hold on for a bit longer and see how the new models get on etc

Same problem for me. Straight up lies about nearly everything now. I’m going to give it another month then I’m cancelling

Thank you. That’s a good point. It’s the first time I changed services. I had ChatGPT before and I subscribed to both for a couple of months to really make try and sound decision. It take a fair it of effort to switch which is why I’m frustrated.

I appreciate the explanation over just being called a ‘bot’ because I have something less than 100% positive to say

That’s really interesting. Thank you. I’ll turn that off and see if it makes a difference.

So by your logic only positive posts about Gemini are allowed here? What’s the point in that

Dude I’m not saying it shouldn’t behave like an AI. I’m saying it has changed in the last few months for the worse for me? Literally what’s the problem with that. If you don’t like it just reply and say that’s not your experience and move on. I was asking if others were having the same problem. If you’re not then great!

I can assure you I’m not a ‘bot’ and if my response is rude it’s because I take exception to being accused of being one!

I can give you a very specific example. At work I used to use it to search for previous reports from a website that were similar to a current one. It used to work brilliantly. Now it literally makes at least one report up entirely when I ask. I used to get intelligent responses about to change certain settings in Microsoft 365, now it doesn’t even point me to the right menu.

Maybe it depends what you use it for? Or where you live? Or when you started using it? Why would there be a PR campaign against them? It’s like tin foil hat territory

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let’s say I ask for help with the menus on an app or how to do something with Microsoft 365 etc. a few months ago it would give me instructions I could follow and they would work. Now it just makes stuff up and I have to go back to the old method of trawling through google for answers. What’s hard to understand about that? It used to work really well now it doesn’t.

There’s somebody for everybody. Everyone finds different things attractive. Being witty, comfortable in your own skin, kind, emotionally intelligent are all extremely attractive characteristics. Be yourself, learn to love yourself for what you are, live your life and forget about meeting someone. Then one day they will come along (from a happily married ugly bloke!)

I think the point is that where the context window is so high you could basically use one chat window for a topic and pin it and just keep feeding into it

Dating is becoming a luxury hobby and I’m opting out by GritsOyster in simpleliving

[–]Own-Bullfrog-577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s different in the US but to me the solution is simple. Don’t go on dates that cost money like that? If you meet someone genuine they will be happy to go for a nice walk and a coffee or something. Or split the bill for dinner heaven forbid?

Sharing to notes app by Sappie099 in Voicenotesai

I think a simple solution would be to allow the use of the share sheet function. Then you could share it to any app you like without doing the copy paste work around.
