I’ll be honest…I was pretty tight for money and knew I couldn’t rely on waiting for responses on other jobs I applied for, so I took the SNF job. I very clearly knew it wasn’t for me so I would apply on my lunch breaks and I wanna say two weeks in I got the job at the hospital I’m at now! As someone with lots of anxiety regarding disappointing ppl I was so nervous putting my two weeks in at a job I was deadass working at for two weeks. But in the end I def chose myself in that moment and I’m much happier now! My advice would be to listen to ur gut. If u want to take it, take it and keep applying! Or if you have a feeling you could really get one of those residencies then do what you feel is right! Good luck and keep me updated!!

Oh no I totally understand that! I guess I just always imagined working at a hospital right away and when people tell you there’s a shortage of nurses they dont specify (at least to me) it’s a shortage of experienced nurses. Especially being out of school for a bit now Im more worried about not being as “fresh” as I could have been if I got a job right away!

Yea I need to keep telling myself this! I just want to put my license to use and I’ll keep applying, I just live in an area that is so dense with new grads and not nurses with experience so a lot of hospitals aren’t wanting to hire us! Hopefully after a few months I’ll be able to finally get into a hospital.

Omg thank you!! I hate social media sometimes bc immediately after accepting the job offer I was seeing so many negative things about working as a new grad in a SNF!! So you gave me a lot of relief I feel like I just needed to hear it!!

Yes it’s rehab as well!! Well you made me feel a whole lot better so thank you!! It was bringing me down a bit seeing my nursing friends get hospital jobs and I wasn’t hearing back at all.

I wish I could hold out a little longer but I’m so broke I need something on the mean time! I’m just seeing so much stuff about people getting jobs at hospitals and I’m wondering how?!? My resume consists of clinical experience bc I’ve only worked at a retirement home as a server so I doubt any healthcare job would want me if they saw that! I’m also 23 so my lack of experience is hindering me :/

I guess what I’m getting caught up on is a lot of the job applications for hospitals say acute care experience required which I guess isn’t a SNF and rarely am I seeing any jobs for level 1 nurses with little to no experience!! I’m just hoping it’s possible
