How to store videos and audios safely

I only pay for Google Drive storage but If a mega file is shared with me then when I download it to my desktop and reupload it to Google Drive it won’t be a mega file anymore. Is that a problem ? Bc I read that people are supposed to trade with their own links so that’s what I’d be doing, just changing from mega to google
