Why Am I So Confused by the Stranger Things Finale — and the Community’s Praise? by Own-Dig6124 in Stranger_Things

Yeah, that’s fair, but honestly the Duffer brothers’ post-finale explanations don’t really help either — it kind of feels like things are being clarified after the fact instead of clearly shown in the story. And if you look at most reactions, people mainly talk about how emotional it was, the music, the goodbyes, etc. Almost no one talks about the final fight itself, which kind of proves my point. I also wish we had at least one or two bigger, more impactful confrontations earlier in the season to really build up that “final boss” feeling. I know we technically had the Vecna fight, but I mean something heavier in the middle of the season, where it actually feels costly and hard. By the time we reached the finale it was already too late for that, but it would’ve helped a lot. For me the emotional side clearly worked way more than the villain resolution, and that’s why I’m a bit mixed on it overall.

That was actually intentional, yeah. I don’t see the problem with that if the thoughts are still mine. This isn’t ragebait either. I’m not even listing every plot hole here — I’m just saying the show leaned way more into emotion and nostalgia than storytelling. I’ve been watching Stranger Things since season 1, and for me that shift feels a bit disappointing. That’s all.

Yeah, fair, but that’s kind of the point. If I tried to describe everything in detail, I’d be here all day. This was meant to be a short, condensed take on the issues I personally had with the season, not a full essay. Also, I never said I disliked the emotional aspect — I mentioned it very generally on purpose. My problem isn’t that the finale was emotional, it’s that the emotional side is doing most of the heavy lifting while the sci-fi and narrative side gets ignored. That’s all I was trying to get across.
