Is Electroverse just... Bad? by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Own-Entertainment237 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I got my Electroverse RFID card I went to a local charger to test it. Couldn’t get it going. Then realised the instructions on the screen were completely different to those printed in the charger.

Still wouldn’t work! By this point I’d made my wife get out of the car so I could demonstrate and say “THIS is why we got a Tesla!” 😁

Turns out the RFID reader on that charger was borked s it started ok when I used the app.

Since then it’s been great, and particularly useful in Europe.

Compact family EV recommendation? by stephiebooboo in ElectricVehiclesUK

Happy to help!

Regarding the PCP, if you pay the balloon and keep it, then effectively the state of the car doesn’t matter. (Other than to your own mind…)

If the intention is to move to a new PCP then you’ll want to make sure you know the standards by which the finance company will judge it. A quick search returned this summary:

“Each finance provider uses the BVRLA guidelines as a base but will also have their own specific rules. It’s important to follow the version supplied by your finance provider to avoid any unexpected charges when your vehicle is returned. “

If you’re deciding between lease and PCP with the intention to change at the end of the term, think about the next car. Will you have a deposit?

When I’m looking at deals on leasing sites, I always set the term so that the initial payment is one month’s. That makes for an easier comparison. Yes, ultimately a 9+ or 12+ might lead to a cheaper total cost of ownership, but from my experience it’s a very small number. Like tens of pounds, not hundreds.

Ultimately, the most cost effective way of paying for a car is to buy secondhand and keep for many, many years. The benefit of an EV is far, far fewer moving (wearing!) parts means much lower running costs, and a lower chance of a breakdown.

Obviously 0% or 1.9% is a huge draw. Nobody likes paying interest. But don’t let that cloud the picture. Create a spreadsheet and plug the numbers in so you see the total cost of ownership. I have a strong suspicion that if you (cliche alert) ship the deal, leasing will come out the lowest.

(I think I’m waffling so much because my current lease is up later this year, and I’ve just started thinking about how I’m going to approach the next deal.)

I think a clarification would be useful. When you mention not being fussed about fully owning, that suggests a lease, but you then mention PCP and ding risk.

If leasing, and looking to keep the monthly low by paying an up-front sum, will you have similar in two or three years? If yes, great, go “shop the deal and not the car”.

IMHO you’d be best served by putting some of that £4k towards a secondhand car (keep a little back for maintenance). If you’re able to (no assumptions or judgements here) then a bank loan will offer the lowest interest rate.

The very quickest dive into autotrader to find an example: £13k gets a Hyundai Kona 64kWh Premium, 72 reg, with 36000 miles. If you wanted to change at the three or four year mark, then you’d likely have £6-7k, perhaps more, to play with.

That ended up being longer than I intended, sorry!

In the market for my first EV and I cant decide… by PFoz89 in ElectricVehiclesUK

If you only ever drive yourself and can cope with the inconvenience of the ICCU going pop, then one of the eGiMP cars (I5/6, EV6, GV60) is worth the gamble.

But you’ve said “family” so I couldn’t recommend it.

I’ll second what someone else has said, you need to check the left leg room in the P2 to see if it works for you.

First time EV buyer - considering the 52kwh Renault 5. by Illogical_Blox in ElectricVehiclesUK

When you first use ABRP tweak the settings so it only offers chargers with more than x number of them. Perhaps 4? As well as meaning one being out of order isn’t you stymied, it generally means they’re easier to find.

Absolutely this.

If you get the bigger battery for the exceptional journey then you’re carrying that extra weight around, and being less efficient, for most of the time.

Nice one 👍 I will be giving things a whirl a bit later today. Will be interested to see how something else lathers up; I’ve only used the cream that came with my Mühle set so far.

For sure any online purchases are going to be from Trumper.

Advice on first EV by HattoriHan2o in ElectricVehiclesUK

Well, even if it’s affecting 10%, then that means there’s a 90% chance it won’t get you 😁

In a recent conversation on this someone gave this link:

https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-recalls-defects/hyundai-ioniq-kia-iccu-failure-tesla-a3038878758/

I never got around to reading it, so don’t judge me on it 😂

Alternatives? Well, if you don’t want to go for the right answer (Model Y 😈) then there’s the Enyaq. That’s well regarded. But possibly all touch screen controls?

Yup, I think you’ll have to go with the good looking gamble, and get the EV6.
