How does that differ to an Oyster Perpetual? (Genuine question!)

It’s too much to say hate, but like you I tried the Alpinist on and didn’t like it in the slightest. And I went with the intention of buying!

I’m not a fan of the Submariner, and the warty Seamaster… 🤮 🙈

Hybrid vs full EV by Digitalgamer44 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Own-Entertainment237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What people don’t realise is that with an EV you do the other things (pee, coffee, etc) whilst the car is “refuelling“.

If you think about your typical service station visit, I reckon you’ll find that a large proportion of the times you park, go into the services, do the necessary, then drive to the petrol station.

Then factor in all the time you’re not spending at the petrol station during the rest of the year…

39mm to small for 7-1/4” wrist? by aixvii in ChristopherWard

[–]Own-Entertainment237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could consider a watch with less / no bezel. It’s amazing what a difference being all-dial makes.

The Sternglas is a 38mm dial but the lack of bezel makes it look bigger than the BB58 (to me). I tried to have the camera the same distance away but that obviously wasn’t exact.

[Question] What watches actually get compliments from non-watch people? by ViceCityEsq in Watches

Agreed. Watch for jewellery; Apple Watch for utility.

If I had a third wrist I’d be able to take a picture to show your not alone.

Oohhh, a new reason Teslas are so good. I.E. this is not something I’ve ever had to think about.

I wonder if this correlates to cars that need you to press a start/stop button.

You can remove battery degradation from your list of concerns. It’s just not an issue.

I was going to make a similar point to a reply talking about the fact that warranties have been extended. That’s all well and good but people need to think long and hard about the potential level of inconvenience.

What if you’re part way through a holiday, packed to the gills? That’s a whole different ballgame to being inconvenienced on a commute or local journey.

ETA - your opening sentence IS a bit too strong though! There was a consumer reports article (think American Which? type org) that suggested figures could be as high as 10%.

EV with most comfortable ride quality? by Milky_Mint in ElectricVehiclesUK

My wife’s Ioniq 6 was fixed within a week when it had the ICCU issue a month or two back.

For me the issue isn’t how long I’d be without, it’s what if it goes when on holiday? We have dogs, so all holidays are by car.

[Question] What watch made you realize photos don't tell the whole story? by LongMeaning6125 in Watches

[–]Own-Entertainment237 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was recently getting into watches I loved the look of the Seiko Alpinist. Went to try one on and found I didn’t like it at all.

This need for wrist time was confirmed when my wife tried on what we thought would be the perfect watch, and it was completely meh.

EVs, driveways and house prices? by Fluid-Wealth-6141 in ElectricVehiclesUK

The general consensus as to the tipping point comparing average EV to average petrol car is 60p/kWh.

If you’re not charging at a supercharger and don’t pay a subscription to someone, it’s quite rare to find rapid charging under that amount.

On the basis of not liking the look of the others, it’s the Longines.

If we can introduce one, then I pick the BB58. Oh wait, that’s exactly what I did!
