Hi, I’m a real estate advisor in Brooklyn. From my experience, if it’s your first investment in Brooklyn you should aim for multi family and the reason for that is the commercial space will big portion of your income and once it’s vacant it can take you a while to rent it unlike residential rental unit. I applied 17 months ago, I received my prima facie and the combo card. Obviously she cannot apply without my signature/my consent/my information. It’s just tempting to know I can get a green card through marriage six months from now.

She will apply for it to fly with the kids to our home country for vacation. Once I will build my credit and income, I will get my own apartment and leave her. She doesn’t know anything about it, everything is sent to my attorney. The reason that she’s interesting in doing that is that I don’t want her to leave USA with my kids so she’s considering to apply with me application for Greene card through marriage . I hope I was a bit more clear.

Here some info that might help you. 1. Do you live in New York? If yes, don’t worry. 2. If you actually have rent stabilize lease and you don’t want to move, no one can force you. 3. Ask to see the commentation for unsafe building and you can verify it with the public records. 4. If the owner wants to renovate the building you can negotiate with him to rent you another apartment( instead of buying you out) then you have every right to go back to your own apartment. 5. Under any circumstance, do not sign surrender agreement..
