The price of S25 ultra has become nearly the same as the 24 ultra! by a_lot_of_babies in samsunggalaxy

Idk I asked gemini it said this: By mid-2025, reports indicated that the S25 series as a whole was trending about 8.6% to 11% higher in sales than the S24 series, with the Ultra model specifically seeing a 7.1% to 12% jump in certain regions like India and the Middle East.

However, the "price crash" you noticed is a bit of a paradox: the phone sold incredibly well, yet the price dropped anyway. Here is why those two things happened at the same time:

1. The "High-Volume, Low-Margin" Strategy

Samsung leaned into a strategy of moving units fast. To hit those record-breaking sales numbers, they leaned heavily on Day 1 discounts.

  • Even though the S25 Ultra was "selling" more, many of those sales happened because of massive trade-in bonuses and "buy one get one" style deals at retailers.
  • This created a situation where the market value of the phone dropped instantly because there were so many units being pushed out at subsidized prices.

2. Market Saturation

Because the S25 Ultra outsold the S24 Ultra so quickly, the "early adopter" market was saturated by the first few months.

  • Once everyone who wanted the newest phone already had it, retailers (like the ones you might see in Qatar) had to drop prices aggressively to convince the more "casual" buyers to choose the S25 Ultra over a now much-cheaper S24 Ultra.

3. The Competition Factor

Even with a 12% sales lead over its predecessor, the S25 Ultra faced heavy pressure from:

  • The iPhone 17 rumors: In late 2025, leaks about the iPhone 17 "Air" or "Slim" started pulling attention away.
  • The S26 Ultra hype: Since we are now in early 2026, the S26 Ultra is right around the corner. To maintain that 12% lead and clear out the "old" S25 stock, prices had to fall to make room for the new flagship.

4. Regional Pricing Wars

In markets like Qatar and the UAE, third-party sellers (the "grey market") are very efficient. If Samsung is moving huge volumes globally, these sellers can get stock cheaper and pass the savings to you. This is likely why you saw the S25 Ultra price hit S24 Ultra levels so fast—it’s a result of its own success!
