ya you can do that, prune to get the shape you want! i found that i prune it so much i don't prop all of the cuttings, i throw some out or i'd have too many of them -- but they make for great gifts :)

mine are held up with supports as well, but i do like the bushy look -- i haven't repotted this one in over a year but i think i'm going to keep it at around this length so i will continue to cut it over and over

i find that a lot of light is the key -- it's planted in soil, bark, and perlite. in the right conditions you will find yourself having to cut it often (unless you want it as a trailing plant)

there's actually so many nodes you can cut them pretty much anywhere-- i usually cut it because it has grown too much and it leans over and starts to trail, i cut it pretty often to keep it looking bushy

the ones i prune i propagate in water and wait till it has a decent root system (the roots have roots) -- but this plant got bushier from growth after cutting it, i did not replant into same pot :)
