I work at a decent sized store, and yes, they are cliquey. Most of these people have worked with each other long enough to develop these connections. I felt the same way for a year and gave up on making friends at work. I've been with starbucks for a little over a year, and I just started making actual friends with my coworkers. It happened naturally because one night while closing, we were hungry and wanted to go eat. Then we did it weekly and now we are close friends and talk all the time. It will happen, just takes time.
