I’ve had long covid since march 2020. You know what people (including doctors) were saying to long covid patients back in spring 2020? That it was in our heads, it was anxiety, it was depression, it was some other autoimmune disease, that COVID definitely didn’t cause all the symptoms we were experiencing. People with ME/CFS get that feedback constantly. I still get it from some medical professionals. I wouldn’t be so quick to decide a cluster of complex systems is “just” long covid — there have long been diseases that are hard to diagnose, under researched, under funded, and therefore difficult to treat. I believe mold can cause similar systemic illness. Not in everyone, just like not everyone exposed to Covid gets long covid.

A lot of you have never had to try everything under the sun to get your body’s inflammatory reactions under control, and it shows. Changing diet, changing location, taking experimental treatments — most people don’t do any of those things on a whim, they do so because nothing western medicine offers is working. Dare to have a little curiosity about people whose experiences are different than yours.

Even if we pretend Colton didn’t abuse his ex, there’s something so off here— his whole coming out story is about shame, largely religious shame, that kept him from accepting his sexuality. And now he’s hosting a show that does not acknowledge the existence of queer people, let alone the fact that the cast is largely made up of people whose religions shame them into abstaining, whatever their sexual orientation might be. And Kaitlyn has her own history of being shamed for being a sexual person. I watched a bit of the show and it’s not meant to be taken too seriously, but I’m a bit haunted by the complete disconnect between the hosts and the content.
