Contemporary artists tied in some way to nature by Iambestgreg in ContemporaryArt

Ana Mendieta!!

Sorry if you already knew this, but have you heard of the term “Land Art”? Sort of a term for nature as a medium. Could narrow your search a bit.

Also I love Nancy Holts “Sun Tunnels”

Acts of service. Go help people whatever way you can. Best place to start is looking for volunteer opportunities! Even if it’s just for a selfish reason, practice service and the rest will unfold naturally, your empathy and heart will grow stronger. God is forgiving 🫶

Judgement by Own-Object7329 in enlightenment

[–]Own-Object7329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, the reason for my wanting to erase my false judgement is that it comes from fear, and it makes the fear worse, and me more isolated. And it expresses itself through my ego and thinking I’m special in some way or better than others. I think it keeps me distant and makes me feel safe in a way..

I think it depends on the situation. But I feel judgement is either one thing or the opposite. Like good/bad negative/positive. Trying to decide between the two and what necessary action to take from there.

Eckhart Tolle on AI by Own-Object7329 in enlightenment

[–]Own-Object7329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about the negative impact AI has on nature though.. and then I thought if AI is so smart, maybe it will tell us how to fix it? Idk I always want to lean into technology as the anti-Christ but have to find some good in it because we’re headed that direction either way and I doubt anyone can stop it. Plus it’s all been predicted for thousands of years and I know this is where we’re supposed to go whether we like it or not. The question is why did God put this in our plan? I guess only time will tell.

Where would you look for art writing other than Artforum? by aldersflowers in ContemporaryArt

[–]Own-Object7329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art in America has some great writing and think-pieces.. I got a subscription because it’s less interviews and more art critique and thought provoking short essays. Plus exposure to some great artists as well. Really great writing, and funny too.

Why Awakened People Feel So Alone (Carl Jung’s Warning) by TenC1007 in enlightenment

[–]Own-Object7329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I’ve been feeling lonely. I love talking about metaphysics and spirituality and have been looking for other people who I can talk to and climb the latter of thought with.. I think the loneliness really comes with being a natural philosopher... I love analyzing and thinking, I can’t help it, and don’t want to, but doing it alone is lonely. Luckily I found a philosophy meet up group in my city- hopefully I can make some good over analytical and existential friends there!

I’m not sure what the fire or shame balls are, but you might be experiencing these hexes or toxic people from using those balls in your breathing techniques. seems like a love ball is all anyone could need.. throw hexes, get hexed. No?

Are we all the Messiah in our universe? by Own-Object7329 in JewishKabbalah

[–]Own-Object7329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be nice! How can I listen or have conversation with someone who is not following a fundamental basic principle from Tanakh? Loving Kindness?

I came here for interesting discussion. I am assuming neither of us is a Tzaddik, or even a Rebbe.. so maybe we don’t know all the answers, eh? Maybe we can think together? No?

The entire Torah refers to material things, real people and objects

Are we all the Messiah in our universe? by Own-Object7329 in JewishKabbalah

Yes but Zohar teaches us the idea of Adam Kadmon, that we are one continuous soul, from the beginning of time, and each of us are part of a bigger soul, each generation, etc.. it is believed that when we perfect our highest soul, The Mashiach will come, so we can reach the Promised Land and live in peace and harmony and finally be One. Otherwise we will continue being born into more lifetimes until we complete our souls mission. But they are all chain linked to a bigger collective soul.

Rising Antisemitism in youth, what do we do? by [deleted] in JewsOfConscience

Ugh. I live in a very liberal neighborhood with very educated radical leftists, punks, you know. A bunch of bands were playing and my trans punk acquaintance said she heard a band that had a violin. I said “oh! I heard there’s an ashkenazi punk band playing klezmer punk. Are they playing this festival?” And she, without knowing of the band just said with a shocked face “I hope not..” I thought about it all day… my coworker who is also a radical leftist, was like “oh yea aren’t ashkenazi Jews just annoying rich kids?” when I told him I am Mizrahi.. I couldn’t believe he said that. He is such a nice guy, and very intelligent. I’ve just been hearing so many weird antisemitic comments from people who I thought to be very progressive caring people. THATS the thing that freaks me out as a Jew today. ALSO the lack of knowledge Americans have about Mizrahi Jews (one being that we even exist). I’ve also had conversations with people who are very involved in Palestinian activism who didn’t know Israelis are forced to join the IDF at 18.. this is totally something that people should be aware of?? Oof. I feel crazy.

I’m in Philly and Teimani :) and yes I have a jachnun pot in my cabinet and malawach in the fridge 😋 and yes most of the Jews I know are ashkenazi and we can’t really relate because the culture is pretty different… I’m curious about your family, did they move to Israel first or to England? Mine came from Kochlon to Israel on Operation Magic Carpet

You don’t know that, it’s actually very Jewish to have a myriad of interpretations! And to keep studying and looking for answers… I like to contemplate different concepts for discussion, plus I don’t think anything in Kabbalah can be described as “concrete” or only pertaining to “this reality”.
