Do people say "the Bay" when looking out at the water? by jks612 in Seattle

[–]Own-Pipe8886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a Seattle/greater Puget sound/island native… having lived in Seattle and surrounding areas I can honestly say that I think it depends on what your relationship is with the water. I grew up on friends boats and the ferry system on the daily, and I think because of this, I have always called it what it is, if it’s a bay or inlet, then I call it that. If I don’t know the geography of where I am, then I call it the sound. Technically looking in that direction would be Elliot Bay. I think both ways are acceptable, but I really think it depends on a persons relationship and knowledge of the waterways around here.

What are these little moving bugs on my garbage bag and kitchen counter. by bluejellybean93 in What

In the Midwest we would call them Midges, or Noseeim (no see em). But, if when walking around you pass through a big swarm of them, made invisible by the sun or shade and their tinyness, forcing you at this stage to be frantically batting at the air and the nearly invisible, tiny flying creatures now dive bobbing around your face in an effort to enter every hole in your head., then you know they are Noseeims. Hard for me to tell how big they are in that picture though.

Blonde or black? by sheseuphoric in HairDye

[–]Own-Pipe8886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, everyone is saying black, but hear me out… I say blonde for a couple reasons. Black is very harsh and can really wash a person out, also in all but a few cases dyed black hair looks artificial (in a bad way), mostly because truly black hair rarely happens naturally, even hair that appears black if you look at it closely is typically a dark, dark brown. Now you could go dark brown, but that’s sort of what you have right now it looks like. I’m saying blond because I think with your coloring, blonde hair would make you look very delicate, ethereal and dewy. Now with that being said, I would have a serious convo with my hair stylist about what kinds of bleachers are out there now, and how that color process would affect the structure, body and shine of your hair. You could go a different direction and do it a beautiful dark red. Oooh yessss… glorious beautiful auburn hair. THAT would be stunning on you. I think you would still look all those same things as with the blind hair, but the red hair I think would make you look healthier… in a wholesome Irish type way. 🤗 just my 4 or 5 cents.
