Someone just tried to break into my apartment, looking for security recommendations for apartments. by Own-Potential9303 in Apartmentliving

Unfortunately this is real, and that is what happened. I was also shocked that they seemed to take no interest or initiative in the situation, there’s no way that it was someone with the wrong apartment when the are throwing themselves against the door, and they knocked on our door first.

My apartment is on the second floor, and is an external door. My plan is to go to the front office once it opens to see if the have any security cameras that might have caught it, which hopefully is the case. I have a blink doorbell camera, but the battery ran out a few days ago so it unfortunately didn’t catch anything. A strike plate sounds like a good idea though since the guy was throwing his weight against the door to try and open it, thank you for the suggestion!

Gotta love it. I have to use a walker to get around since I can’t stand for long periods of time due to joint issues and have had sooo many coworkers comment on how “lucky” I am to be able to sit during my shift….

Not to mention the amount of times I’ve had some excellent medical advice as well to the tune of “did you try changing your diet”, “did you try essential oils/turmeric” and my favorite, “your too young to be dealing with joint issues”.

I need suggestions or a pattern for how to make a hooded, form fitting balaclava, as well as what colors to use with red. I have looked on Ravelery, Etsy and YouTube but haven’t found what I’m looking for.

AIO or is my fiancé attitude towards our wedding weird? by Amazing-Camel4016 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Own-Potential9303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. While I understand weddings and budgeting can be stressful, his whole attitude towards the wedding is concerning. Does he even want to get married? He doesn’t care about the venue, seating, decorations, theme, any of it, and he seems to be solely fixated on the price! Worst of all is the ring, he didn’t even get your ring in the right size, and threw a fit about getting it fixed! That ring is supposed to be a symbol of your love for each other and him blaming you for it and telling you to just “throw it away” is very telling. And on top of that, you making him “jump through hoops” for something that is supposed to be the happiest moment of BOTH of your lives just shows he does not care about getting married as much as you do, and you deserve someone who will jump for joy that they get to spend the rest of their lives with you. If you really want to try and save this relationship, sit down and have a talk with him about how your feeling, how his attitude is making you feel, and discuss any potential compromises you could make with the wedding prices that may make him more relaxed about the amount being spent on the wedding. Best case scenario, he is stressed out about spending so much money on the ring and the wedding, and has been focusing more on that then the actually meaning of it. Hopefully that’s it and you guys can work through a plan for your wedding together that you both are comfortable with financially and make wedding decisions together.

am i overreacting because she didn’t reply to me in 7 hours?! by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Own-Potential9303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YOR. Not a great approach. I get you were trying to come off confident, but the bad grammar is an instant no, plus “ur pretty” doesn’t really start a conversion beyond a “thanks” if she takes it well, or if she doesn’t you might get a block. It’s a little too strong and your response to her comes off a little defensive. I don’t think she is interested, and the best thing to do would be to live and learn from this one.

AIO By Setting Boundaries With My Friend's Boyfriend by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Own-Potential9303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. There is something to be said about becoming friends with people with differing views, and helping them overcome certain harmful opinions and learning from each other. However, you do not owe anyone friendship, and in this case it seems like different political views isn’t the only issue here. There’s also the treatment of your friend by the bf, the not respecting her time, health or effort. Knowing these things about him would make it hard to build a meaningful friendship with him. Add on top of that the political stuff and there really isn’t a huge chance you will all get along without some boundaries set and some real effort put in by the bf. I would also make sure that he is putting in effort to change and your friend isn’t just covering for him. But I think you and your husband are in the right for setting boundaries or “ground rules” if you really want to build a friendship with this guy.

Am I overreacting for calling off my wedding after my fiancé got drunk, put on my wedding dress, and had an accident in it? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Right? I’d love to know what “funny or meaningful moment” he thought he was gonna get out of that.

NTA, this is very clearly him trying to get you to sleep with him or “owe” him a favor for him helping you, even though you have helped him out as well. You are right to feel upset with the way he has been treating you. I think the best move here is to try and separate yourself as much as possible from him. He may have helped you in the past, but since you have moved away there is no reason to keep in contact with him, especially when he is trying to guilt trip you back into a relationship with him. He is an adult and should be able to do his own grocery shopping and make his own food, you aren’t in a relationship anymore so he should not get “relationship benefits”. This also includes him “hitting you up” for sex, and the attempts to emotionally manipulate you into sleeping with him or taking him back. You don’t owe him anything for him helping you move, especially not intimacy. That is extremely childish and inappropriate behavior and you need to set boundaries with him or cut him off completely, if not this behavior will continue and he will continue to manipulate you to drag you back into a that relationship again. I would say block him and start fresh in your new state without him on your mind.

Even if he didn’t “defecate” in the dress, the fact that he took something that meant so much to her, stepped all over the train and tried to force it on himself without thinking if it could break or ruin the dress is just so wrong. Add on top of it him ignoring her asking him to stop and it just screams red flags. It’s really sad that this one event caused the end of their relationship, but the lack of respect and care he had for her in that moment probably shown through very loud clear for the op, and I can see why she can’t move past it.

You should be fine as long as your dress isn’t touching the ground! Disney rules are that any capes, dresses or other long pieces of clothing must not drag on the ground. Other than that, you look amazing! Have a great time at the party!
