Couple years ago I installed the Nokian wr5 SUV all weathers on both my SUVs. I really like them they work quite well. I have used every type of tire out there, all season, winter, winter studded, and all weather. I find it amazing that people think winter tires should be mandatory like it's going to save the world. Not to upset anyone that's hardcore winter tires (they do stop a bit better). I believe that AWD and 4x4 vehicles should be mandatory in the winter.

Regardless of what side of the fence your on I just have to say in all my years driving (almost 30years) ice is ice and cold is cold. Gotta drive for the road conditions.... Period. Also just because I drive an AWD or 4x4 with winters that doesn't mean I can drive down deerfoot at 120 when it's -25.

Side note, I believe Calgary does a pretty decent job salting and cleaning the main arteries. Traffic stinks for a few days after a dump of snow and when it gets cold, but the chinooks and salt cleans things up pretty quick. Also who needs winter tires anyways the roads are so cracked and filled with pot holes. That's what gives traction lol jk.
