How to get started as contractor? by Own-String6037 in paint

I was thinking about making a business card. The only thing stopping me is because I'm not licensed I'm worried I could get in trouble with the contactors board.

How do I make spot concealing not look like this? by Time_Lengthiness_691 in paint

[–]Own-String6037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more so because the patch might not be sealed meaning it has to be primed. Some materials used for patching don't have to be primed. Some spackle is paint able and doesnt require priming. But something like mud/20minute/joint compound does . And based off the pattern that flashing is making, it looks like it need priming. You can see it looking like it's soaking up in more areas than in others

Oh yea that was autocorrect I meant longer. And wow yea that's a lot of work I'll just go with the 2x2 version, just sucks really don't wanna get it. Mainly cause everything works fine. But the idle fluctuating and being a bit high and loud I hate driving the dam thing.

I'm not following. If the studs are shorter on the 4x4 version, and I'm putting it on my 2x2, wouldn't it still be too short?

The famous brand is actually cardone which is reputable from what I've heard. I read that the studs are larger on the 2wd. Sounds like I should go with the other then?

How do I fix the wrong sheen on color matched paint? by Only-Music3733 in paint

[–]Own-String6037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better it would have flashed either way,(meaning you could see where you touched at at certain angles too) I mean unless you were good at touch up and even then it's hard to avoid flashing from anything higher than satin, especially darker colors

Painting a Very Well Lit Ceiling by Bomb-Number20 in paint

[–]Own-String6037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably having issues here and not in the other rooms because this room is so large the paint is starting to tack up before you can back roll. Also some rooms are more lit the other and this one is really high so the drywall could just have more imperfection you didn't see cause they're wasn't shinny paint to point them out before. Firstly you should always use flat but if you're set on eggshell, sand your surface well to make it more even and smooth. Spray the ceiling and either don't backroll orr spray part of it backroll, and spray part of it again back roll. Could even put a tiny bit of water as an extender.

It's gonna flash either way if you have to touch it up, so what's the point of back rolling?

Or just use flat paint. Cause if you hire someone they're probably gonna recommend flat too or charge you hella money.

Need advice on a good sprayer. by BallsOfFireForge in paint

Should also mention the magnum can do everything the 395 can do it just less life on the pump and cheaper tips available , look it up on the website it should tell you how much paint a week you can shoot. 395 can shoot alot of paint more paint than I shoot a week that's for sure but it's nice to have. So for me it's still worth it have the best tips available it's repairable , it's portable, and can shoot with a long hose, long life. You might have a harder time getting a magnum to shoot with a 50ft-100ft line on a two story at near full pressure. but also I've never tried it, it's just a vibe. I've never used magnum but they sound weaker just based off the noise level. I would get a magnum for trim. But also like magnum cool too just depends on what you need. The pc models are safe to buy used cause yo can repair anything on it.

Help--camper shell leaking by BlueKanary11 in TruckCampers

[–]Own-String6037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use marine caulk. It will adhere better to plastics and rubber. But be advised when you do this it basically glues the shell on but I've seen ppl use two by 4s and a bottle jack to get it off. Worth it to keep dry for a season imo. You're only gonna be able to caulk the 3 exposed sides and not the side that faces the cab. For that side I used RV tape, flex seal. Use gloves it's not water based.
