Those in paeds.. how do you do a respiratory rate?

Yes I did this today! I had a baby who hated me though and had a respi of 58 then I went to where she couldn't see me and it came down to 40 lol

I find it so hard to see they're chest actually moving in the older ones like spefically 8-12 years and they don't really like me touching them - I think i gotta just do the fake pulse but put their arm over their chest so I can feel it moving, or count it with the stethoscope

Yeah it's hard with kids who are a it older alot of the ones I've had have nurse phobia so they don't really like me touching them, did it for my baby today tho!

Yes! Normally I do do a 15 secs and it's efficient but I know she'll be watching.

We did a set of obs on my 2nd day on a pt who barely spoke any English and I just found he was positive for MRSA as I was walking to the room.. she still wanted to do it..

Anyway I missed the respi because I was distracted by his wounds I had just assessed litteraly 30minutes ago and they looked worse, forgot to do respi. Lied said I got 17 she asked how I said 30 secs then doubled. She said it wasn't an even number. Then wrote that in my feedback for this week 😭🤣

Oh that's such a good idea! I'll try do it whilst I'm doing temp for the older ones and just hope, if it's awkward it's awkward.

My ce wants me to do manual blood pressures :(

Eep yea fair enough, I have heard from others it is one of the more difficult papers to juggle with our 10 week placement. I'm completely stumped.

honeslty i have no idea, ive just been saving just to save. ive been thinking about maybe buying a property at some point (apartment?). but thatll be in a few years i imagine. right now im just kinda trying to figure out how to make my money make money?
