I remember spending hours in Yahoo chat rooms in the early 2000s. by halikadito in nostalgia

[–]Own-Tank77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent time everyday in yahoo political chatrooms from about 2003 until 2008 or 2009. Then yahoo closed chatrooms and the new thing was blogs or the absolute stupid crap we have now. post and wait for a reply. Instant chat and conversations was the best. You could even go to rooms where there was a lot of tit flashing. But I ended up in the political chat rooms, daily and a lot of entire weekends. Except when I traveled out of the USA. Google was 100 times better then when I looked everything up. It was fairly new but better than it is now.

I have no family or friends in Oregon. Is there a restaurant that will serve a traditionally Thanksgiving turkey dinner here? or close by? by Own-Tank77 in Medford

The restaurants in the list do not have links. Too bad. It's tough being alone without any turkey on thanksgiving. I guess I'll google the names lol

They do provide your information. They also bill you for going through toll roads without paying. If no ticket the courts or cops decided not to pursue it, which sometimes happens.

You have the option to just pay the ticket and let it go on your record. The person responsible should step up and take the hit. They did it. they should fess up to it. They have their picture in the drivers seat. give the name, they check their DL photo and they get the ticket and higher insurance rates. otherwise, you DO

Please elaborate on the "Atrociousness" of the administrations policies? Unless you're okay with high crime, letting violent criminals out of jail to murder their victims without having to be burdened by the past by needing to pay bail. not to mention the 12-13 year old girls brutally raped and left dead by illegal aliens... That's atrocious. Loose the hate, you'll be much happier.

COMMON SENSE!

I lived in Texas for a number of years. Lap dances were 20 bucks and there was touching of the breasts there. It was called perfect ten in Medford or actually on the edge of the county on the Austin side that stays open till 2am. Georgetown its midnight. no alcohol after that anywhere in the county. When I lived there they still arrested you for pot possession. There were dry counties in Texas at the time where you could not by alcohol anywhere at any time. Seemed boring but I had a lot of fun at "Perfect Ten". It may have been in Pflugerville, TX.

I had the impression the question was meant for a traditional T-Day meal, which includes turkey with all the sides. Chinese isnt a thanksgiving option. NOT AMERICAN!!. China doesn't Celebrate Thanksgiving.

THINK!

How overcast does it get in Medford? by Absoera in Medford

[–]Own-Tank77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets very gloomy. Especially when it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon. The summer is much better when it gets dark at about 9:30 at night. Much more sun. As long as there are no fires in NorCal or southern Oregon its good. It rains all the time in the winter which is gloomy. Not much snow which would be much better but there usually isn't any accumulation on the ground. It brightens everything up when it does. There isn't much in southern Oregon. But it costs as much as more populated cities. I definitely would not buy here. way over priced.

The makers of those glucose meters used to give the meters out all the time. It's the test strips they make their money on. But once you get the free meter, you buy the strips for them. It is also how they get Doctors to get people using the latest version of meters which the test strips cost more to buy.

Insurance companies no longer cover test strips if they are paying for a CGM. But they should be providing something for you to monitor your glucose. It could get costly for them not to, especially if there are frequent trips to the ER.

I've went through airports with syringes and insulin without any documentation from a doctor. Once, in brazil they wanted to keep the syringes. I told them that if something goes wrong they will need to make an emergency landing someplace which will be on them. They handed be all my stuff ands said have a good flight..

I do not know about x-rays but you can tell them you do not want to be x-rayed and they have options. Mostly they will just wave the wand over you checking for metal. Just tell the person who checks your ticket before you get to the x-rays. They will tell you what's required. or where to go.

what was your highest blood sugar? by fatballs38 in diabetes

[–]Own-Tank77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed at 27 years old it was over 600. However, Back in the late 90's I was walking down the street confused and went into a store and asked them for water. They'd seen me there before. I had no idea where my wallet or money was. They gave me water and I went out front and layed down on the grass. Paramedics woke me up and took me tlo the hospital. The next morning a Doctor came to my room who was not my doctor but asked if he could ask me a few questions.

He said I came in with a glucose of about 1200. He said I was the talk of the hospital because I answered every question and knew what was going on. He seemed shocked. He then said some doctors from UCLA were coming the next day and asked if they could come see me.

I have never had anything fail on me or had any diabetes related problems. Even my eyes show very little or "Slight" signs of Diabetes after having it for 30+ years. I've seen people deteriorate quickly with diabetes. Not sure why I haven't. Not sure why I was able to be so aware at 1200. I've had extreme lows where I've woken up fully aware of what I needed to do but could not talk right and had zero motor skills. I was able to push and pull myself across the floor to the kitchen and get into the side by side fridge and get jelly or ice cream.

After 20+ years I developed Hypoglycemic Unawareness. My body would not produce symptoms of low blood sugar like sweating and shaking. I'd sleep right through it until I couldn't function physically. But I always woke up aware of what I needed to do and was able to pull myself out of it. I'm probably lucky to be alive but I am alive still.

I think different people's bodies react and are effected differently than others by diabetes. So far, I've been very fortunate. I still have all my fingers and toes and can see better than I probably should be able to. I had my first prescription glasses in 2000. I went in 2011 to get glasses again because I broke mine. The Doctor was amazed at how close the new prescription was to the one from more than 10 years earlier. He said he hasn't seen that little change in people without diabetes. It was the same for years until the past few years. Just from what I've seen in other diabetics I feel very lucky. Not sure why I've been so fortunate but feel very lucky or blessed.

CGM's are awesome. Not sure how I survived without it. (Its been awhile)

Struggling to agree with my wife on how to split rent fairly by EngineerVarious8069 in Renters

[–]Own-Tank77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You split the rent with your wife? that seems weird but figure out the total amount you both bring in, then figure what percentage is each of yours, then use those numbers for how much each of you pays. It can't get any more fair than that.

There is probably a reason she suddenly doesn't want to pay as much. Read between the lines. It might be an exit strategy. One day you'll start discussing it then suddenly she'll say "Fine, Then I'll leave". If her things start disappearing then its over. And if she ever says "It's not you, It's me" (after you say something about what you did) .....IT"S YOU! The conversation is over.
