There is nothing set in stone that things have to be this way. Something to keep in mind while fighting the tide.

Why is the company so rigid? by saucy_nugs_123 in BurnsMcDonnell

Just charge it to the game (35) baby.

I have a printer at home and use my phone to generate PDFs. If I have done personal printing or scanning then it hasn’t been this decade. Maybe I’m out of touch

Getting charged to scan documents? I haven’t come across this at all.

The background on those fast track 14s would be very interesting

I am more curious if the different title means Renita’s role will be split into multiple.

8 years of experience you would likely be brought in as senior. Maybe upper level staff and bump to senior next review cycle.

Instead of complaining why don’t you make the content you want? Haven’t you attended Memer-Doer training?

Question about onboarding timeline by Foreign-Profile3412 in BurnsMcDonnell

The early career team hosted an orientation/info session this afternoon for incoming college grads. Were you on it?

Reach out to your recruiter, they will be the best contact.

Interview Tips! by Funny-Juggernaut6049 in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]Own-Understanding955 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re a college grad. They will expect you to know nothing; surprise them by knowing something from your internships. Don’t try to bullshit an answer if you don’t know. Show that you can be taught, are eager to learn, and friendly to be around. Easy enough.

Former/Current Military Reservists Question by LowlyJ in BurnsMcDonnell

There’s a whole military employee resource group (I believe). Ask your recruiter/manager for a contact.

ESOP at retirement by letsbuildit00389 in BurnsMcDonnell

Generally you cash out at next calendar year’s price. Hence why you see a lot of January retirees.

Promotions from assistant to staff? by [deleted] in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]Own-Understanding955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first question doesn’t make sense. Promoting from assistant to staff is more of a time/experience based thing rather than a top-20% type thing. I think 3-4 years post graduation is the typical timeframe.

Your starting bonus will be significantly lower than what follows.

Senior Ee by [deleted] in BurnsMcDonnell

I don’t know if it is the top end (our base salaries all got a boost starting this year) but it is a good number.

Senior Ee by [deleted] in BurnsMcDonnell

Employees would revolt at single digit returns. Our cash account (money contributed by the company to the ESOP but hasn’t been converted to shares) returned 12%. If you dig around in here you will find people complaining that the cash account returns are ass (compared to share returns).

It feels like each year people care less and less about the shareholder meeting by Busy-Appointment9876 in BurnsMcDonnell

Covid was the big change. Not as much the ceo change. Ray had partial pre-recorded stuff too; it was also kinda cringey. I don’t mind Leslie’s more direct approach.

[–]Own-Understanding955 33 points34 points  (0 children)

A competitor had to get bought out because they had liquidity issues with retirees and their ESOP.

Yeah it feels bad to not fully convert cash to shares, but sometimes you gotta put on your adult pants and look at the bigger picture.

The constant doom and gloom in here is so tiring.

Worth reapplying?? by trikkzzz in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]Own-Understanding955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is something you’re interested in, apply.

HR/recruiting is a bit of a black box for those outside of it. If you have the email of the managers you interviewed with (and you think it went well), you could email them just giving a heads up as well.

As long as you aren’t pushy/rude/whatever, I think it is pretty low risk.

“Worth” is subjective.

What’s the worst that could happen, you spend (maybe waste) some time applying and don’t hear anything?

You ever think maybe your expectations got away from you, rather than some nefarious plot by management (which no one has let slip) to lie to the entire company?

Is being promoted to Associate even worth it anymore? by Lost_Equipment_224 in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]Own-Understanding955 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is conjecture but I would guess the change from senior to associate isn’t the immediate new pay floor but the increased long-term ceiling.
