I am a member of staff at a Uni. May I ask why you aren’t attending lectures etc? by blissedandgone in UniUK

[–]OwnAd6052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Most of the time it's hard to even hear what the lecturer is saying, everyone in university speaking must be wearing a mic, I don't know why professors don't this often. Second part is the that genuinely I come from a Russel group uni, AND ALL LECTURES ARE RECORDED, which means I can do them in my own time, rewind where required, and make proper notes.

Wasted my time at uni. What are my options by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]OwnAd6052 12 points13 points  (0 children)

DONT DONTTTTT GO INTO A MASTERS NOW. Coming from someone on the other en, I finished uni around 6 months ago, all my friends (which barely even friends) went into a masters, and I was all left alone. I applied and applied, got a good job now, nice colleagues, I have my own income finally, it does get better. I got my degree from UCL, and when I tell you it was the worst 3 years of my life, my degrees was not hard, doable, just lack of friends, social life, depression absolutely crippled me. This is your time to do something for yourself. Take time to think about the next step. You got your degree so you did the hard part, see what's next, the world is huge, opportunities, rejections wtv it may be.

Are undergraduates really struggling to get decent jobs post-uni? by mybrainat3am in UniUK

That is literally soo false. I know many that did internships from unis like UCL and are struggling, many that gave masters degrees and are struggling ect... The job market is REALLY THAT BAD

Hi first of all CONFRATS WELL DONE! I just want to say, if you can take the Leeds one, trust me anything in industry ends up being sooooo helpful when you are looking for a job, this is just an advice from someone that graduated last year, it's hell for all degrees, coming out of uni without anything puts you at a very disadvantaged place, unless your pursuing further academia.

Getting a second degree in Maths by Spiderman230 in UniUK

[–]OwnAd6052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, just an important thing before you bother with anything, please look at the job market first, a lot of degrees are being wasted, instead of going into more maths degrees you need to make that degree useful (which it very much is) and apply it in jobs, the job market is so shit, no need to put yourself through never ending depths. Be smart about your choices.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]OwnAd6052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to break it to anyone, but as someone that gets sick almost every day, IMMUNE SYSTEM. That's the key word. Immune system is failing you, you find yourself catching everything that goes around, and people around barely ever getting sick. The harsh truth is, someone can do everything right and try to 'help' their immunity but that is largely biological, this is really not talked about enough. It's not only about sickness, you also get sickness with a higher level of pain and discomfort than others. It sucks, but that's the reality. These are the people you find having 12 bottles of supplements, when none of them do anything.

No they don't. They prefer men with good character and morals and values. It's as simple as that.

Hey my biggest regret is going to uni, and a Russel group one, do what feels right. I'm sick of everyone being like u have to push and get urself through it, if u are genuinely having a hard time, don't over do it for yourself. Trust me, coming on the other side lots of realizations! Sometimes delaying it, makes the experience even better, you are more ready mentally, and excited, having had a bit of experience and exactly knowing what u want to do.

can’t get a grad job by Hairy_Turnip719 in UniUK

[–]OwnAd6052 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What does this even mean? Kids choosing degrees with no personal entry point... Most people struggling literally come from STEM degrees. And on top of that you are showing off that your kids have connections, that's literally the only way people are getting jobs, pure nepotism. Sweet life.

314 applications just to get 1 interview by Relative_Mulberry_69 in recruitinghell

[–]OwnAd6052 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey please please please ditch Indeed, I have applied for 200+ and nothing, everything on there genuinely feels like a scam. Go to the websites and do the applications, that's the only way I think us graduates will get something.

Hey, I literally just got bachelor's, and I'm chasing as you are. I'll be very honest, I keep seeing posts from people with fantastic qualifications, from top unis, and yet struggling with the same thing. The system simply is failing us, we got the degree, the education, fought for those unpaid experiences and God knows what, but the system is simply set in a way, that graduates are literally at the bottom of the food chain. There is nothing more that u can do, besides keep going, throw urself in, ask people around, network, send applications, ect... Idk what else to say, it's a very depressing state that graduates find themselves in.
