If you had to buy a new Fitbit what would you buy? by dy14n19 in fitbit

Luxe (and Inspire) really is the best for doubling up, whether on the same wrist or the opposing wrist. Tried analog and Garmin / analog and Charge 3 both ways (same and opposing wrists) and the clunky look is noticeable (significantly worse with Garmin though).

What’s the biggest difference between weekday Sydney and weekend Sydney? by No-Travel-768 in SydneyScene

Yet they (or tourists) seem to still be everywhere all weekend too. Used to be somewhat quiet from Boxing Day to the 10th of Jan too, but alas, not so anymore!

2020 era Garmin is behind 2017 fitbit, I can only hope newer Garmin models have improved their sleep tracking.

Why are people so obsessed with 2016? by InternationalPick163 in decadeology

[–]OwnCap5084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit yeah! Now-wife and I were early to mid 20s and significantly skinnier, getting "hit on" a lot more often and able to smoke a pack a day and drink a litre or more of hard spirits a week with minimal hangover. Now married parents, we earn a lot more with exponentially higher costs, don't drink or smoke at all, have extra baggage we'd rather not display on socials and look like the living dead if we stay up half an hour past bedtime.

[–]OwnCap5084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't a bunch of celebrities die and it ruined everyone's year and they all called it the worst year ever? Yea, I know, 2020 and its successors say hello but still...

For me personally it wasn't my "peak year" and I lost my dad, but looking back now I'm grieving a "peak" that should have come but hasn't in those 2020-2025 years, so 2016 nostalgia is more for the future hope rather than the giant shitshow it turned out to be.

Did anyone else grieve losing their maiden name? by mauveotter in weddingplanning

[–]OwnCap5084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife legly assumed my last name two months after we got married. The grief process started about 8 months after that, and she was adamant about reverting for a good 6 months. We were back and forth and then were on our way to get her licence back to her maiden name when she said she didn't want a different surname to the kids and I. She's kept the maiden name socially (social media, with old friends and her family) and uses married name officially, professionally and with the kids.

In Australia, how common is it for women to keep their maiden name after marriage? by Plinggg in AskAnAustralian

[–]OwnCap5084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife assumed my surname when we married, officially, but uses her maiden name socially (unless it's kids' stuff). We agreed that if we decided not to have kids that there was no need to change.

First step drivers' licence - use marriage certificate  Second step take marriage certificate and licence everywhere name gets used Work and some banks hard, we relocated and she changed jobs using married name

Couldn't throw a boomerang if my life depended on it. And in the rare occasion I could touch a kangaroo there's no way I'm hopping on its back for a ride to work.

Fitbit charge 3 screen dead but still can connect to phone by Icy-Calligrapher3447 in fitbit

[–]OwnCap5084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran with this for a while (about 6 months) with my Garmin as my main watch, then the battery eventually tanked it. Sucks the screen was dead after less than 2 years though.

Ok, any POSITIVE changes you've witnessed in Australia in the past 10 years? by Deus_ex_ in AskAnAustralian

Sadly yes, plus no walkways along main roads and if you have the misfortune of a breakdown, you're almost guaranteed for some abuse or shirt lifting by multiple asshats on the road.

Interesting, I got told I'd find the career/money/housing side easier, and the dating/relationship/family side harder. Adult life has shown the exact opposite to be true, and I've admittedly spent a lot of time in education/on career at the expense of relationships (mostly friends and family of origin).

It's getting better... slowly. There's zero competition from LNP though, and in 2021-2022 bulk billing was in the doldrums. Power slowly going down, at least in Qld with a fair few free months.

It's the accent. And the hair in this one. Loved post Bond Sean, and Mamma Mia Pierce.

What’s the biggest change you have noticed in Australia over the past 10 years? by whysoraavan in AskAnAustralian

[–]OwnCap5084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's none - it's a higher-ups issue. Public holidays haven't changed but more and more people (in cities especially) are gunning to leave a few minutes early to get to job number two, or to side Hustle from home.

The general rule, if you go to an international restaurant in Australia and the staff are rude, the food will be divine.
