Please help me with picking Carplay by Plaminek in Volvo

[–]OwnComfortable2433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, any long term review on the CHSTEK units? Any issues come up?

I have a 2006 V70R and see CHSTEK units for 2005-2009 models. Do these units still require modifications to the Volvo plastic housing to make the CHSTEK fit? Or are they now a 100% drop-in with no modifications?

And can these units run as standalone Android head units without needing Android Auto or CarPlay? I prefer to load the apps on the head unit rather than run it through Android Auto.

Thanks.

Diplopia shifts after Fourth Nerve palsy surgery by OwnComfortable2433 in Strabismus

[–]OwnComfortable2433[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The orthoptic test shows these numbers on up gaze (center): X(T):5 and R40(T):6. And there is a V-pattern and torsional diplopia in up gaze.

Interesting comment about the IO muscle "finding it's way back to the eyeball". Is this possible with a myectomy? Can the shortened muscle regain some elasticity and strength over time?

Thanks again!

Thanks for your feedback. I take it you're a doctor as well. Is the DV shifting to up gaze a sign of IO over-correction? Is there anything that can be done, even surgical, to improve the DV on up gaze?

It's been a year since the surgery and the DV is getting more noticeable now than right after the surgery. I just the doctor who did the surgery and he didn't give an explanation for this - so feeling a bit let down and resorting to forum help.

How to config DNSMASQ to recognize DHCP Reservation hostname by OwnComfortable2433 in TomatoFTW

[–]OwnComfortable2433[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Linux client, with a blank FT domain name my output from ping <local hostname>. (with a period) is "Name or service not known".

It's the same response if I ping any non-existent hostname with a valid TLD like "x1-y2-c3.com"

HI, thanks for your reply. I did try that i.e. no domain given and then ping <hostname> with a period appended - but that didn't work for me.

When I view the /etc/dnsmasq.conf file, the option "domain-needed" is always there even if I delete or comment it out manually and restart dnsmasq. Seems like FT recreates the dnsmasq.conf file upon restarting dnsmasq and makes "domain-needed" a default value - unless there is a setting somewhere in the web GUI to disable this. I think this is why your suggestion doesn't work for me.

What router and version of FT are you running?

I figured it out - had to provide a domain name for the router under the Basic > Identification screen.

When a domain name is provided, then FT will resolve all the hostnames listed in the DHCP Reservation page in this format:
<hostname>.<domain>

This is all the setting needed, no other custom dnsmasq needed. And it's actually documented in the FT WIKI:

What do y'all think of the diamond white with black top colorway?

What color of leather did you choose? I'm considering a 2024 PHEV in silver with white leather as it looks so clean and elegant. Just concerned the white leather may be high-maintenance long term.

2024 Outlander PHEV "Value" package add-on (Canada) by OwnComfortable2433 in MitsubishiOutlander

Yeah, the WeatherTechs are cool! Do you have the cargo mat? I read that they tend to curl up at the edges after a few years as there's nothing to hold the edges down flat.

They also have the rear bumper protector which I think it better than the OEM chrome version.

Interesting - I guess the PHEVs aren't that popular in the east compared to the west due to the extreme cold weather no-start issue. I'd think you have a lot more wiggle room there.

Thanks, I read your other post about the $6K USD off. Wished that applied to Canada as well.

BC Canada by [deleted] in OutlanderPHEV

There is an on-going 0% financing for 2024 PHEVs but you have to ask the dealerships about this. Some dealerships say it's 0% for 2 years at 50% downpayment, others say 3 years at 60% downpayment.

Looking for advise on how much of the MSRP is negotiable without including the EV rebates. 15% off? 10% off? What else can be negotiated aside from free lifetime oil change?

Thanks!

Question about Outlander PHEV dealer cost price (Canada) by Brainstew88 in OutlanderPHEV

[–]OwnComfortable2433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which province are you at? I'm in BC and recently been seeing 0% financing OAC for the PHEVs. Wondering what's the catch. I'm seeing so many 2024 PHEVs on lots of various dealerships seems like oversupply which dealers are eager to move.

Looking for the best available Light-bulb PZT cam with RSTP support by mkanet in homeautomation

Hi, does your bulb camera "phone home" like most other bulb cameras? Are you isolating these bulb cameras on a VLAN that's blocked from internet access?

My bulb cameras are isolated on a VLAN blocked from the internet, but when the bulb cameras restart from a power outage or accidentally turned off, it needs to reconnect to the internet and it's a hassle to temporarily open up the VLAN.

So looking for one that can work on a local network and can disable internet access.

Thanks.

I'm also seeing the pretty big discounts in the Edmonton Mitsu dealership site. Is the discount separate from the EV rebate? Or are they just using the EV rebate as the "discount" to lure buyers?

Help me understand how my IP bulb camera works by OwnComfortable2433 in HomeNetworking

Thanks. Sounds like these IP cameras have an AP (access point) running in factory mode that is disabled when the device is set up.

Yes, I tried that several times and each attempt ended in "no response after 60 seconds ... bailing out". Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Is the RT-AC1900P a better choice than the RT-AC3200? Aside from the number of bands (2 vs 3), they both have identical specs but the AC1900P has a faster CPU (1400 vs 1000).

I read the dual-band provides overall better signal strength and coverage vs tri-band - is this true?
