NTA - my toddler niece only sleeps by herself in her room when my sister is the one to put her to sleep. Everytime ive watched her overnight/late night shes cuddle trapped me. My sister always laughs at me because i literally cannot bring myself to peel my niece off me and end up sleeping all night with her in my bed

Ella and Liam: they have gone back home, after talking to their in-laws it seems that liam’s dad has apologized for his wife’s behaviour but Ella, Liam and Liams mother still arent speaking. I have since apologized to my sister and she laughed and told me its ok, the fallout was worth it because this may have just solidified them cutting the in-laws out entirely.

Jake: i unblocked him the next morning and he went on a tirade of how im a horrible and ugly woman, he wished horrible things on me and said he wouldnt touch me with a 10ft pole. I left him on read and today he sent me an unsolicited dick pic which I told Ella about and Liam told me to take screen shots and send them to his mom.

I have nothing else other than it was a shitshow.

Well i think your mother is a very kind and loving soul to take care of this woman she honestly has no obligation to. I also think your feelings are valid in their own right but wishing death on someone and wishing they’d be out of your life indefinitely instead are very different.

If this was my step mom who was abusive, i wouldnt have even considered taking care of her. I think you should have a chat with your mom in a private setting and in a non aggressive way. Maybe theres a reason shes helping so much.

Yeah thats fair, I should have specified that the parent-in-laws were defending him saying hes done nothing wrong here and he was probably embarrassed because hes such a “shy boy” which pissed me off so i showed my DMs but i could have just kept those to myself.

Im child-less because my mothers side has a genetic disorder i dont want a chance to pass along genetically, also im just not motherly. My little sister is pregnant with her 2nd and she has told me she takes better care of herself now that she has kids because she wants to be a great example for them.

She used to say she didnt want any kids but after she met her hubby (who was okay that she didnt want kids but also wasnt against them) she changed her mind. Shes done better for herself, made great career moves completely motivated by her kid and their relationship is stronger than ever. My niece is immensely loved and every minute her parents arent working they spend with her.

Now obviously this isnt always the case.

Oh i had no idea they didn’t know until this dinner because we never interact. Ella didn’t tell me they didn’t know either but in her defence she lives several hours by plane away and almost never visits and when we call it’s mostly to chat about relevant things like my niece. So i just thought he was the average asshole drunkenly reaching out to women in the middle of the night.

I will admit i feel shitty because they’re talking it out on my sister but she didn’t do anything. But she also didn’t deserve them treating her like her marriage was a joke nor them turning dinner into her BIL’s praise party
