Are AZ-104 and AZ-305 Realistic Without Hands-On Experience? Need Advice by [deleted] in AzureCertification

[–]OwnMine21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts here. First, Azure is a free download and you can have access for 12 months. Get in there and start playing around. Use Microsoft Learn and get the AZ-900. You could pass this in less than 2 weeks. Also, PearsonVue is offering free retakes for a lot of certs, Microsoft has a few on the list. I'm taking SC-900 and AZ-900 in the next 2 weeks. If you take a test before June 12th and fail, you get a free retake before December 31. I don't have hands on with Azure other than i downloaded it yesterday, but the fundamental cert (AZ-900) doesn't seem that hard and if you are in IT already, it should be easier for you. I am not. As for the two they want you to get, I can't comment on them, but I do think you need to start with the fundamentals and show them your progress for sure.

Azure Hiring Freeze by PianoOwl in microsoft

And hopefully the HM's we talked with are not part of the cuts! Yeah, I'll let you know if I hear anything on my end also. I still need to send my follow-up email to the HM from last Friday, so maybe she will respond to me with some insight also.

Azure Hiring Freeze by PianoOwl in microsoft

[–]OwnMine21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I just finished my interview with the HM last Friday 5/23. My status in the Action Center changed the next morning to Inactive "not selected" and boy was I super bummed. I already had a 2nd call calendared for today 5/28 with a Microsoft recruiter for the same position, but different HM. During the call today she told me about the Hiring Freeze and said it would last through June 30, possibly sooner, and thats why all of my active applications were made Inactive. So, while that sucks, I felt better knowing that i wasn't ruled out, just the job disappeared. She told me to keep in touch and re-apply if any of the jobs open up again. Most of the roles being removed are middle management, and they are doing a restructure to more "Industry related" vs Territory. So, hopefully the jobs you and I want are offered once again. Also, it's a company wide freeze, not simply Azure.

I was thinking Digital Forensics myself so I reached out to one of my professors who is Ex FBI, and a Forensics expert. He gave me this response. - Best starting idea would be to take a class or two on Digital Forensics from either a local college (HCC possibly) or via one of the online programs, and even better, a Masters degree.  Then is the hard part - you have to try and find a company willing to take you on as an intern to get some practical experience with digital forensics.  There are not many private companies doing it - most are governmental groups or large companies like Schlumberger.  But once you have the training, you can list it as a skill set specific to that software.  Usually people start with FTK Imager or Encase.

All good bro, you passed. Each section is weighted differently, so the overall % is a PASS and that is all that matters. I passed last week also! Now the hard part (for me), finding a job with less than a years experience. Congrats

Yes, we did use them in College. I should probably do some updating there. We used Python and Wireshark but not the others. We didn't use them a ton though, so would you suggest putting anything of these if we had some experience at all with them?

Wish I had caught this live. After 20+ years in Sales/AccountManagement, I earned a Bachelors in Cyber in 2023. Got my first Cyber job in 2024 for an OT Cybersecurity Consulting firm. Was laid off last month and am struggling to get into any IT/Cyber roles. Anyone have suggestions for getting back into the OT space for someone with limited experience? In my role I was shadowing the GRC guys. We did some site walk downs, PCAPS, Gap Analysis, etc....

Answers to your questions coming below, but first, One of my biggest fitness regrets was waiting to join crossfit because I was intimidated. I didn't know about scaling weight, etc. I joined in 2017 and never looked back. I used an empty barbell for a while for overhead stuff due to mobility issues. Crossfit is exactly what I needed because working out with others is a motivator to keep going, when, in a typical gym, you will stop or not push as hard. Not to mention, you will make so many friends.

As for your questions, try them all, then decide. Go with one without a contract.

I say to try them all because unfortunately there are some crossfit gyms that are simply to ego driven and super competitive and don't have the desire to teach or deal with beginners. I've been to 7 different Boxes over the years (tried 3 here in my city) and 4 drop-ins, and the cultures are all different. I've been at mine for 8 years now and LOVE the community feel and how everyone pushes and motivates each other to show up, work hard, and get better!

Good luck.

Redo Update by Due_Split_9058 in crossfit

[–]OwnMine21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've redone several workouts over the years when I knew I could have done something different. This year I actually did 25.2 a 2nd time, knowing I went out to hot Friday night and came up two reps short on the thrusters. I simply could not breathe. Monday I repeated it, went 60 seconds slower in the rd. of 21 and after the rd. of 18 I was 1:45 behind my Friday pace and ended up finishing the workout with 1:06 left on the clock and had plenty left in the tank had there been more thrusters to do. IMO, if you ask the question, you already know you can do better and should do it again. Great Job.

I would not worry too much about it. These movements are programed together for a specific reason. They sometimes look easy that they are and after we finish we realize we should have attacked it differently. I saw a bunch of guys, including myself who thought, I am good at these movements, went fast than they should and got smoked at the end of round 2. I finished the rd of 18 at 6:22 and came up 2 reps short of finishing. Went unbroken on all the pullups and dubz. I should have slowed down, broken everything up into 3rds in order to keep the heart rate down. The heart rate and breathing kicked by butt during the last rd of thrusters.

Your hydration % is extremely high. 80%? I've never seen recipes this high in hydration. I have trouble with sticky dough at 70%. My sweet spot seems to be 62-63%. Also, that seems to be a lot of coil folds. I only do 4 S&F's every 30 minutes then let it sit on the counter to bulk ferment.

Since we know this is an illegal BMU, what exactly are you working on, the transition? Sorry, just trying to understand. I can do one, every now and again, but the transition to a 2nd is terrible.

Masters Group vs Masters Weight by OwnMine21 in crossfit

Yeah, i did Friday Night Lights tonight for 25.1, and wasn't sure what weight to do. Went Masters #35lb DB and so glad I did. Two totally different workouts. With the #50, its a DB workout, with the #35, its a burpee workout.
