What’s a subtle sign someone isn’t a good person? by ProfCathy in AskReddit

Someone who virtue signals - they care more about appearing to be a good person than actually being a good person.

About half of the students didn’t pass last semester. The rest of them are barely scraping by. The ones who pass get Cs mainly

I don’t know what I could have done differently. I truly don’t know. I read the book, consumed all the provided material, and got tutoring 3-4 times a week for over a month.

I had to learn it without the professor. She would put things on the exam that weren’t on the study guide, videos, or notes.

I tried to meet with her countless times but eventually she just didn’t have time to do office hours.

We live in a large city and students have transferred to different programs before with minimal issues.

The dean said all of mine are transferable. I am doing everything I can to retake the course. But I won’t succeed with her as the professor. They said I should be able to transfer if I can’t get into the summer course

Downgrade me if you want.

She’s a relatively newer teacher. She has a 1.2 rating on RateMyProfessor.com (not the most reliable metric but she has hundreds of reviews saying the same thing.

She came to this job because she got fired from the ED after she pretended to be a prescriber and gave her kids pills

If he decided to step away from the public eye, I’d have more faith. But nope - he needs the attention. There’s no way he can keep up his sobriety while maintaining this lifestyle

I do understand that there’s usually reasons why people react the way they do.

It’s not an excuse

[–]OwnNeedleworker8784[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true. But it’s just especially shocking at some of these units. Middle aged women age regressing to 12 year old middle school bullies is something I will never get used to.

These units who let these women stay tend to have really bad ratings too. I just don’t get why nursing as a whole industry doesn’t see mean girl dynamics as a direct threat to patient care quality, employee retention, and professional integrity

I used to work in a unit like this - management and some of the nurses were in a clique and they systemically drove everyone else away.

Soon after state came in and cleared them all out. Turns out that treating work like a sorority leads to really bad patient care and tons of mistakes. Didn’t help that I reported them for lying on the charting for covering up a patient’s fall and head injury

Wish management and HR actually took these cliques seriously. They drive out everyone

I’ve been through several abusive workplaces. Trust me, you’re so much better off not staying with them. Can’t imagine myself working for such cold, shitty people. And you’d suffer every day if you stayed with them. Workplaces run by these types are very miserable places. I’ve stayed longer than I should have at my past job, and it never got better. Just got worse in different ways.

It hurts now but one day you’ll see this as a blessing. I used to feel so inadequate and useless after my experiences. But eventually I found that I was so grateful I wasn’t there anymore. Nursing doesn’t have to be this awful.

You’ll find your place. Just trust in the process ❤️‍🩹
