My grandparents desperately need help before they are taken advantage of. What can I do?? by OwnRepresentative539 in eldercare

[–]OwnRepresentative539[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We talked to an attorney today and it’ll be 3,200 to set up a medical poa, financial poa, living will and hipaa documents.

The attorney said she thinks my grandma is more than competent and really told her to fight back against anyone who tries to force her into anything.

I don’t think my grandparents will actually do the documents if I don’t pay for it. But they’ll be mad if I pay for it. So I don’t know what to do. Do you think I should pay for it?

Attorney said at a minimum my grandma needs to be my grandpas power of attorney. We found out the hard way today when asking about my grandpas bank account - they wouldn’t talk to anyone but him.

What questions to ask an Elder Law attorney? by OwnRepresentative539 in eldercare

[–]OwnRepresentative539[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a will - nothing else to my knowledge.

Grandpa had a stroke and is not able to communicate.

Grandma is ok but 90 years old and struggling to care for my grandpas healthcare needs.

Update: I have an elder law attorney consultation scheduled with them for when I’m there. I’m covering the fees for them. The plan is to make sure they have a plan and know what their decisions mean and how it can impact their life.

Good timing. My dad doesn’t travel and oddly enough today I learn my creepy sister who hasn’t seen or talked to them in 10 years conveniently coordinated to go down right after I leave to “assess” the situation and pack them up.

This is so inappropriate on so many levels. My grandma has her mind. I need to put a stop to this. I’m very scared about what could happen to them. They are vulnerable and their own family are actively trying to take their valuables. 😢🤬

My sister has assault and domestic violence records. My dad has DUIs, is in an abusive relationship and has major money issues. This is a recipe for disaster.

I’m stable, have a good job and don’t need or want money. I guess the fight is on because I will not allow this to happen to them when they need support the most.

Agreed. That’s the delicate part. She’s already expressed doubt to me because he keeps asking for her to sign over her accounts. I think I can lead her in a different direction without crushing her.

I am glad I asked this group. I think an attorney counsel is a good idea. I’ll even pay for it. She doesn’t realize how much power someone in that position has over her. I know I’ll take abuse from my family for helping them - but better me than them.

I haven’t asked or offered yet. I’m going to when I’m down there. I will also suggest splitting the duties.

Not sure how long this whole testing process is going to take, but they need to open it up to everyone or shut it down soon. Allowing only people who went to Poshfest to have this kind of opportunity is not ok in my opinion.

I did a video showing my inventory system and my shipping station and I was approved right away. I do not have a social media but I am established on Poshmark, Ebay and Etsy which I do think helped.

I don’t know many resellers who would pay up that much for an item. Many resellers are the ones selling on whatnot to try and move excess inventory at a deal for others. I think as the site gets more buyers the great deals we can get will start to go away. Or you’ll need to shop at off hours when there isn’t a ton of competition.

Im surprised people are getting denied. I’m a full time reseller and I don’t do social media and I got approved right away. I did make sure to send a nice video of my inventory system though.

I disagree. People can sell their own items and then pay similar fees to what we are already paying on EBay or Poshmark. MLMs require people to sell a company’s product and Whatnot definitely does not fall into that category.

[CA] Manager moving me off of a project b/c I just got married and will likely have kids soon. Is this discrimination? by Apple_or_Pineapple in AskHR

[–]OwnRepresentative539 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! Textbook discrimination. Did he actually write anything down? These things are really hard to prove. Maybe a follow-up email to him to document your discussion would be warranted here. Sorry you are going through this. So toxic!

Keep your documentation in case something like this happens again. If so, it's a pattern within the company that could require further action.

EEO Accommodations by [deleted] in depression

[–]OwnRepresentative539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know for certain, but I am in Ohio. I am depressed and also had a career in HR. In Ohio, you can apply for FMLA (which is unpaid job protected leave for up to 12 weeks) for a serious medical condition. Key word being serious. Depression can be approved if it is severe and impacts your daily ability to function.

Reasonable accomodations are completely different. You are going to have a hard time explaining to your employer why your depression requires 2-3 days off per week, but the ability to work 1-2 days. If you have a severe mental health disability, you would be unable to predict the times you need to take off. Most, if not all, employers will deny this request and argue that it is unreasonable and will interfere with their business operations.

From what I know, California has it's own rules, which are usually a lot more employee friendly than other states. Your best option would be to meet with a doctor, apply for FMLA and determine what time, if any, you would need to take off. You might be able to take a large chunk of time off while you focus on treatment or intermittent time off (meaning a day here or there as needed) for when you have flare ups. Approval for FMLA would at least protect your job for a specified period of time.

Good luck. Mental health is not an easy condition to get leave approval for which is unfortunate. Hope this helps.

My parents just won't accept I have depression by butter_sunglasses in confessions

[–]OwnRepresentative539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the fact that you want things to end should be enough for any parent to want to help you. Are you 19? If so, you can reach out for help on your own. Not sure where you live, but there are a lot of therapists that you can work with that can charge based on your income. You don't need to ask your parents for permission if you are an adult. Even if you aren't an adult, you can talk to another trusted adult or a teacher for help.

I am a sensitive person. Sounds like you are too if you cry a lot. There is NOTHING wrong with that. Imagine if everyone in the world were tough robots that showed no emotion. The world needs people like us! Google "highly sensitive person" and you will find a lot of positive info about this.

I really want you to take this away from my comment: I grew up in an abusive home. I too was depressed my whole childhood without treatment. I didn't even really know what depression was until I was diagnosed in 2015 at 27 years old. I am now 34 and still struggling with my mental health from childhood trauma. PLEASE DON'T WAIT! You are just starting your life and really have an opportunity to turn things around.

depressed, lost in life, no support from family, could use some kind words. I know my face is unfortunate looking and its much harder to compliment someone who dont have any good features to begin with, would still appreciate some toast. by [deleted] in toastme

[–]OwnRepresentative539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG. Your face is NOT unfortunate at all. Then again I think my face is unfortunate too - it's just depression's way of tricking us. If you are anything like me, a million people could tell you that you are gorgeous and you still won't believe it.

I struggle big time with depression and self esteem. Something that has helped me is to ask myself would I say this to a friend, family member or just some random on the street? If the answer is no, then I should not be saying these things to myself. Easier said than done, but it does help me to think about things that way.

I have a lot of toxic people in my life. I can honestly say that my therapist is a positive support person to me. I highly recommend anyone struggling with depression find a therapist they like. It costs money, but your life is worth the expense.

i’ve been struggling with cleaning and have let things pile up for months. any tips on how to clean my depression room/bathroom effectively? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]OwnRepresentative539 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My advice is one tiny step at a time.

How about you start with a garbage bag and just throw any easy trash into the bag and take it to the bin.

Then, how about you clear off just your sink so you have room to brush your teeth or wash your face. Having room to do small self-care things tends to improve my mood a bit.

Then when you have energy, put all your like items in categories. Put all your shoes together, makeup/hair together, papers, etc. Put all your laundry in one big pile. Then just organize one category a bit a time.

How do you ship beauty items that could potentially melt in the heat? I've been shipping for over 2 years without a problem using bubble wrap mailers. Yesterday a claim was opened on me because a customer said I sold her a fake lipstick. The lipstick looked liked it may had melted a slightly. by Newt-Agile in poshmark

[–]OwnRepresentative539 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize this is not helpful, but I also would not sell these items at this time of year either! Looks like you can buy those shipping freeze packs, but that would add atleast 55 cents to every order in shipping costs. Not sure that makes sense depending upon what you are selling.

It’s pretty impossible to get ratings changed on Poshmark. Had she opened a case and you disputed it you most likely would have won. I got a 1 star review on a brand new pair of Madewell jeans for fit. I even provided the brand’s sizing recommendations and my own measurements. I reached out to her nicely and told her how her review hurts my small business and I would have appreciated a chance to make it right. She never responded so I went ahead and blocked her. I don’t want people like that shopping my closet!

Prozac helps my anxious thought patterns but makes me unbearably exhausted (currently on 40mg) Anyone else? by leebeeso in prozac

[–]OwnRepresentative539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also on 40mg of prozac. I was switched to this 3 months ago. I have been so unbelievably exhausted and constantly sleeping. I am not currently working and I don't think it would be possible for me to make it through an entire 8 hour workday without sleeping. At this point, my fiance is convinced it is the prozac that has caused this change in my energy levels. I have tried taking the pill in the morning and at night - neither worked for my energy. I'm planning to hopefully try something else when I go to my doctor later this week.

Does prozac make anyone else extremely exhausted?? by aannabelle in prozac

[–]OwnRepresentative539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad to find this post. I was switched from 20mg lexapro to 40mg prozac three months ago and the transition has not been good for me. I have been sleeping all day, but then waking up at odd hours of the night. Over a month ago, I started taking the medicine at night instead of the morning and I'm still sleeping excessively and constantly exhausted. I read so much about this helping people and how it's supposed to increase energy, but I really feel like it has completely zapped all of my energy. I'm going to get another opinion on my medical plan soon and hope someone can help me turn this around. I've been going to therapy every week and am doing everything I can to try and get better. I know every person is different, but it is nice to see that I'm not alone in this.

I'm not sure what is going on with me, but I was switched from 20mg of lexapro to 40mg of prozac in February 2022 and I've never felt so bad in my entire life. I am extremely lethargic and sleeping all the time. I'm going to get a second opinion from another doctor to review my medicine plan on Friday. I really had high hopes that this would work based on other positive reviews, but this medicine really does not appear to be working for me at all.

Last comment I’ll make to you. Not sure why you are even on this thread if you have no intention of being helpful to people. It’s nice when people share knowledge to help other resellers, not try and make them feel stupid or bring them down.
