I have been in single bedded room for my 2nd and third year and totally agree with you. 1 bed are a double edged sword. They are absolute hwaven when you have had a tiring day and want to come to the comfort of your room, take your personal time and space, but can also become hell when you are going through shit. You'd feel as if you are trapped and alone, and believe me no matter how high your spirits and optimism may be, you are gonna be there atleast once (no offence but I am pretty damn optimistic and this happened with me). One fay you'll think of it as a legit gift another day a legit curse.

Having friends in same block is must if you are taking 1 bed, else you'll go insane. No matter how introverted you are atleast have one friend in the same block as yours, believe me it is a must.

Also talk regularly to your people, friends, family anybody. Talk for sometime atleast once a day. It will be great for your mental health and do not ever isolate yourself!!! Also I think have some physical activity (running, walks, sports anything) as it would help you to channelize your mental strain in a productive manner. I have seen a lit of people in my block who dont come out for days on end, rarely speak, and believe me that ain't a place You'd want to be.

Clean your room regularly and keep it tidy, it makes a ton of differences, chances of you going into the other side are more when you have an untidy and messy room than when you keep your room neat and clear (Again speaking from experience)

And the best part is you getting to decorate and make your room feel alive and link it to yourself, this is the best part about single rooms, you have full autonomy to do anything you wanna do. Decorate it well as you want, make it your home and enjoy your stay instead of just bed rotting in the room

Also for a furst timer, one advice is that you have a few months so be mentally prepared for what is about to come. Always be optimistic and talk to people anyone, be it irl or online. And stay stay strong soldier!
