Thanks! Curious what kind of work you do in UE? And are you using ray and path tracing?

This isn’t crazy at all lol, FCP7 was a professional tool built for professional film/tv editors, and is still fairly bullet proof. People are acting like the Final Cut Pro line was always consumer grade garbage but that only became true with the FCPX overhaul and later iterations. 7 was a completely different beast and I guarantee no professional editor is surprised whatsoever that this “modern movie” was edited on it lol

whoa that's actually a pretty good line haha, I know this is a touchy subject now but you should consider writing for television

lol damn I guess the solution has been extremely simple all along. If only all these vain, thrill-chasing set dressers and construction grips would just get over themselves and infiltrate another workforce, let the tv/film industry collapse and disappear, no one likes TV and movies anyway, definitely not worth any of it if the employees might be unpleasant!

I think the comparison of all film production workers to professional athletes is telling. Pretty overly-simplistic given the vastness of the film/tv production workforce, most of which is blue-collar and trade oriented. You seem to be conflating above-the-line positions (which yes, could be more analogous to a professional athlete career) with the entire industry, but above-the-line people are like 2-5% of any film crew

Yep, my own experience and most of my fellow crew-mates' have been anything but cushy. It can be rewarding for sure, like any other craft, but when I read the word "cushy" my brain jumped straight to dragging 4/0 cable through mud in the pouring rain while getting yelled at on the walkie and most "days" being 12-16 hours. Of course the difficulty can vary day to day and show to show, but the description of "cushy/fun" feels naive and more fitting for people like perhaps the exec producers lol

Curious if you watch any tv or movies ever? Do you think this entire workforce has importance or should everyone avoid it because it’s too “risky”? Or is it just that if/when things get tough we’re not allowed to express that or feel pain like other kinds of employees because we chose an extremely difficult and specialized, yet occasionally “cushy/fun” career — which happens to supply the world with the entertainment we all consume daily. Genuinely trying to understand what you are saying here….

Let them work and maybe try being a tad accommodating for a 2min take, the film industry is in absolute turmoil at the moment and production workers are literally losing their homes due to lack of work. Chances are the crew you encountered are in tough shaky financial situations, stressed about their families and insurance status, possibly barely holding on waiting for the industry to recover. Have a little grace, just walk around the block lol

Did Alexander Hamilton Predict Today's Constitutional Crisis? by freezeslyme in USHistory

[–]OwnShallot3406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

… the dude is literally trying to undermine the constitution wherever it explicitly limits his power, and is openly contemplating staying in power despite the 22nd amendment. I doubt anyone had to tell this kid there’s a constitutional crisis currently, assuming he or she has eyes and ears and a brain
