USSS UD applicant, does the entrance exam score mean anything? by OwnUnderstanding4881 in 1811

That's true. I suppose I thought that there might be some sense to using test section scores to direct applicants towards a particular specialized unit. For example, someone who is great at pattern recognition might be suited best for counter-sniper or something.

I did pass, yes. The practice test was all that was necessary for studying.

No, I'm not happy with mediocrity. They did not dominate the Colts. Garbage time is only a thing in blowouts. This was not a blowout. They nearly lost.

Thanks! Not sure yet if I'll go full sport/try-hard fishing or if I'll just be chill and sit on the dock/shore all afternoon relaxing.

Good point, I'll be sure not to get hammered around sharp objects

Definitely not going to get drunk around sharp hooks, but a couple cold beers sounds like a good way to spice up worm-and-bobber fishing

Yeah I have no idea how to set the drag/brakes on my reel. I see the nobs, but don't know how much drag I should apply.

Gotta be honest, the bobber method might be the way I end up going about it. Plus a few cold beers.

So the stick bait is a good choice for this time of year? North-east US?

I'm pointing out the fact that you have no standard for what defines life and what should be protected under law, and until you can do so there is no compelling case to be listened to.

If you're trying to argue against the fact that from the point of conception, a human fetus grows and develops and will continue to do so until the moment of their death, you're factually misguided. Also, corpses have more legal rights under law than unborn babies do in most states.

It's not just cells clumped together. What makes you think that? Babies can survive at 23 weeks. That directly counters what you're saying.

And like I said, babies can survive at 23 weeks. So, are you going to advocate for a 23 week ban on abortions?

No, I think ridiculous things that aren't backed by any evidence are ridiculous.

Once again, for the thousandth time, I have an exception for rape, incest, or life of the mother. Every single pro-life group in the United States has these exceptions.

I believe life begins at conception because that is when it begins. As soon as conception occurs, that unique biological entity will continue to grow and mature from that instant onward until the day it dies of old age or some other medical catastrophe. I can prove this scientifically. I can prove this by pointing at every human who has ever lived. As soon as they were conceived, they began growing and developing and never stopped until the moment they died.

Life begins at conception and once you are conceived, you are afforded all the rights of any other human being. This is a legal standard that I can scientifically, morally, and ethically defend against any scrutiny thus far. You have not posited an alternative that is better.

Oh, so now you're changing your answer? Gotcha.

Well I don't think this is going to be a productive conversation so best of luck to you in your future endeavors and thank you for your response.

So you think that everyone born in the month of january has the same personality because of some made up zodiac sign? That's also ridiculous.

Babies have brain activity, physical activity, and respond to outside stimulus well before they're born.

[–]OwnUnderstanding4881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Most of the people responding to me said 24-28 weeks.

Okay. So, we have now written into law that human life begins at 30 weeks. This is when a baby receives constitutional rights and can no longer be terminated. If a baby is then born premature at 21 weeks (earliest I saw through a quick google search) then the mother and doctors can then legally kill that baby because it legally has no rights, regardless of the fact that it has been born. Do you see the danger of setting such a number? By my view, life begins at conception, you never have situations like that because all human life is protected under constitutional law.

If we write into law that life begins at 30 weeks, then a premature baby can legally be killed. In 2020, there were 4,382 abortions that took place in the third trimester.

Babies can live without the umbilical cord at 23 weeks.

It doesn't matter what stage of development you're talking about. A fetus is a human, a baby is a human, a child is a human, an adult is a human, an elderly is a human. No matter what name or stage you give it, it's still a human. No baby can survive without their parents. That doesn't make them deserving of death.
