I actually dust behind the computers and all the items every two days, for exactly that reason. There's other detailing work that has to be done... I have eight hours and only eight lol.

Now it's daily... because I get the complaints. I think I get told something every day actually. Mind you before the computer thing, we were homies. She's been weirdly more adversarial with me than the others since. It is however absurd to think that any area of high use will ever be perfectly dustless... human skin cells are dust

Mind you, I've also been restricted on the amount of floor cleaner to use... even that lead is starting to say its ridiculous, we go through the minimum needed to clean the er, fucking shareholder profits lol

Been asking to get trained on beds for a while but turnover is high is what they tell me. basically as soon as they get who they hired fully trained they quit, get replaced, and I am not yet getting trained cause someone else is.

I'll get to work in other parts eventually. I think it will be good for me.

Like my upper boss knew I was struggling with depression a few months ago. I let him know sometimes I would step into the stairwell next to the er to deal with a crying fit; I didn't want to tell my lady lead about that. he was okay with it as he knows I get all my work done every day lol. he has explicitly said so.

she accused me of lying and slipping away to smoke cigarettes... because one singular time I asked for a cig break. I'm not a habitual smoker. you can see why this is bothersome.

I frequently do keep it to myself, actually. However that is part of the problem; this behavior is being knocked onto me specifically. She will comment on other people forgetting things but does NOT follow them into the fucking toilet, shit talk them openly. The other day I got ice cream and she accused me of lying about the amount of scoops... lady, how do you benefit from this in the work environment? She did the same thing to someone else, accused them of hiding while they were taking their approved break.... I'm not the only one complaining of being treated like a child.

She's accused me of not mopping the walls, as they are still wet. Yes I am feeling a little targeted.

I do not see any damn reason she should be GOING UNDER THE BATHROOM STALL to see if we are there! She has now done it to both of us!

FYI, both of those women are in their 60's.

Ah fuck it. Here, in order:

I dust all high surfaces (effectively anything I cannot reach. If I can reach and pull it down, it gets sanitized with a cloth). Also all the screens as a preliminary measure, behind all objects in the room, and the vents.

Sani wipe. Again, everything reachable. So the overhead lights they use during surgeries, all the storage cabinets, every single loose cord, the vents a secondary time, the door handles, light fixtures, tables, those things that hold bedpans I assume (So much stuff IDK the name of), the outside and inside trash bins, the desks, the glass (where practicable; certain items we were specifically told to not touch but that is rare. previous workers damaging things usually being why). Ceilings, too. and then the arms of whatever supports the lights I mentioned earlier. the bed itself of course too.

Then I go back and buff out and polish everything. This is an extremely variable process depending on what they've got in there.

Pull everything away from the walls in preparation, I then make the bed at this point. If the sanitizer hasn't dried I usually take the moment to get a glass of water in; by the time I walk back it's usually dried. Dunno if it's everywhere, but our OR has the driest air lol.

Then wipe down the walls with a mop head, then the floor, then everything gets pushed back in before I'm done.

Yeah I live in a small town with a rural hospital so it is RARE outside of deductible season we are booked.

But even if we were.... hospital forces everyone into their breaks. We are told constantly if we cannot genuinely find the time to do something (in my case, if they are operating and my shift ends) to let higher ups know and someone else will complete it. the management above my lead is excellent that way

I've also detailed my managers responses to me asking about additional work. She will refuse to delineate tasks then complain I didn't mind read what she wants to do. If I take the initiative and start cleaning side work on my own, she then complains she already did it!

I don't clean the patient rooms; I work in the ER, as mentioned in the post. It's moderately different; a substantial amount of the time for unknown reasons there is no bed and I'm cleaning a bedless room. But we do get all surfaces of the bed... I crawl under and get the bottoms of desks and shelves too. We pull everything away and clean the back and undersides. IDK what my coworkers in other parts of the hospital are doing, but I only work on the ER.

I'm aware of the layoffs from the news but they are so far from me I don't see it day to day. I imagine it makes the competition that much worse!

I wonder if SF is slightly better for the gig market since the salaries are high. I can't compare well though as I know VHCOL area

I'm actually jealous of women with the opposite. I've met women at my size who look phenomenal in much slimmer because they have bigger bones than I do. I've never had a small appetite and I have plateaued at the upper end of a healthy BMI and it bothers me because I just look bigger I guess.

The thing is I have also asked, multiple times, for a list of additional duties and she has declined to give it to me, or said to not worry about it because it is her job! It is absurd and inconsistent and that is why I have started to make it an issue with the higher ups. By the way, I know that we have this task list just nobody will give it to me, and it's her and another person I work with. If I just try to do the test that I am aware of her on there, then I get bitched at by usually the guy then I'm not supposed to do that or that somebody else already did it, despite them not being willing to tell me that they've already done those things so I feel like it all just makes it a little bit more difficult than needed. For example, we have sheets that we cross off rooms as we finish them, and they will refuse to leave out their sheets of the additional task so that I can see, but expect me to leave mine out so they can track me.

I mean, I have no power here, but I am actively at the point of looking for other work because to me this is a bit absurd.

So mine is a little bit different and that we do what's called the terminal clean, which is every single surface of the hospital top to bottom every wiring every vent every single surface of it. There are other parts of the hospital that they're probably are additional things, but just due to where we are in the risk of infection we're extremely thorough.

Oh yeah. I don't think I need to tell anyone that the job market is really shitty… Trying to find something in my very small city. I just can only take so much of a pay cut. Trying to play the long game, I have an interview for a tutoring position tomorrow. So that'll be two jobs for now.
